FYI on costs for a PDK clutch oil change
#181
I have a 2012 911 Turbo S with PDK that I bought certified in 2017. Last year, I noticed some rough shifting, particularly at slow speeds like pulling out of my driveway. Brought it to Monmouth Porsche under CPO and they said nothing was wrong but they reprogrammed it. They did NOT mention that I was overdue for PDK Clutch Fluid change. Still drove the same after the service.
After reading this thread last month, I called my indy (Bodymotion) that specializes in Porsches and has all the equipment the dealer has. They recommended the PDK clutch fluid change and my Front differential and AWD controller fluid changes and said the PDK pan and filter and the PDK gear oil were not due until 12 years and were optional. I expressed my concerns about the shifting and they said if I change all fluids and pan they would reprogram with the PIIWS and I should notice a difference. I went for the whole thing because I did not want to take chances, and I am glad I did. The transmission is so much smoother and more responsive.
The cost of the service with my PCA discount was $785 for PDK clutch fluid (5 liters) and pan/filter change with PDK adaption and recalibration of the gearbox control with labor and parts. The PDK gear oil for the rear differential was $137 parts and labor. The front differential oil and AWD controller change was $164 parts and labor (this service is only for AWD cars).
So basically for $1000 I had the full fluid change that you would get at 12 years during my 8 year service, and the PDK feels like new. I highly recommend this service for anyone worried about their PDK, and I recommend Bodymotion for anyone in NJ.
Also, I took the old pan/filter home and it looked clean like the photo above, and I was told that there were no metal particles in the fluid. Better safe than sorry.

Performing the clutch position calibration is key when having this maintenance done. I had the same experience as you.

Hi to all DIY'ers
I just did a PDK fluid change on my 2009 997.2. You can buy Motul DCTF (Pentosin FFL-3 equivelant) from E-Bay for $35 for 2 ltr and free shipping. . Also, you can do this yourself in less than 90 minutes, including jacking the car up (if you have ramps a jack & jack stands), including removing the plastic shield. I purchased a 1 ltr oil can with the thumb pump handle and flexible spout from from Harbor freight for $10 and used that to fill it up. Total cost for materials, less than $130 plus 2 cold ones!
You do not need to replace the oil pan as many do. I replaced the bolts with SS hex bolts which were much easier to torque up, (got them at Lowes) as the aluminum bolts break easily if you try to reinstall them. I was told by a Porsche mechanic they are designed to be a one and done fastener.
All you may have to do is replace the cheap plastic gasket (which is why they tell you buy a whole new pan). I used a 1/16" thick piece of Gore Produra ePtfe sheet gasket material and cut a new gasket myself https://www.google.com/search?q=gore...hrome&ie=UTF-8) You can get that from you local gasket distributor. Just take the pan and press it hard into the sheet and trace around the pan to get a good cut shape to work with. I used a regular single hole punch to put the gasket holes thru the gasket material. It worked great!

I was in a similar situation as you and had mine changed. I went to an independent mechanic who specializes in Porsche to have mine changed last year. I posted the experience and the cost.

I have just been quoted £800 + VAT for the PDK service on my 6 year old Panamera 4 E-Hybrid (22,000 miles). The total quote for the intermediate and 6 year service from a Porsche Centre was £2500 + VAT. I am currently getting a quote from another Porsche specialist, who say they expect to come in at way under that price. That is the sort of price I would expect to pay on a modern V12 Ferrari. It seems excessive to me.
