One is a PDK Plus and the other is a manual and 4WD vs 2WD are the biggest differences. Yes, it has some more power but unless you are redlining it on every gear change, you won't notice that and their 0-60 are very similar.
I took the 4S out for a rainy day drive and I was hitting corners at speeds that I could probably technically handle in the Carrera but with the additional aero and clawing through the corners, it was pretty incredible and I felt like I was driving a Subaru STI (I know, sacrilege, but that is what it reminded me of driving). A E46 M3 was being aggressive so on a long sweeping ramp merging onto 540, I gunned it. He did not dare try to follow.
Corner entry errors were easily corrected with mid-corner adjustments and more throttle applied. I'm sure it has its limits, but I have to grow the ***** to find the limit on the forest roads around my house. Add to the fact that the PDK makes sure you are in the right gear.
The Carrera steering feels noticeably lighter and is much more of a traditional sports car driving experience. Enter a sharp corner in a low gear and get on the gas and feel that tail wag! It reminds me more of my RX-7. You have to think more in the Carrera: Pick your gear, brake, turn, accelerate. The 4S is: Enter as fast as you dare, brake as late as you dare, stay on the gas, and give it more gas right before the usual apex.
I still have more "experimenting" to do. I did my commute to work yesterday in the 4S and today in the Carrera. That was almost identical except the 4S feels heavier. You only notice the difference when pushing it.
I have tracked neither car so I can't speak to that. If you are into autocrossing, 2WD is the way to go as you can rotate the car with your right foot and it is lighter. The 4S would do better on an open track.

Only applies to 997.2 PDK AWD models. Pull handbrake up to first notch. It won't engage instead disabling the front axle.
Appreciate you WRX comparison. When noticed 997.2 C4Ss would soon be nearly
the same price my desire to buy a Golf R or S3 changed to waiting and getting a 4S because it's like a German WRX.

Wow 62k that is s great deal. Good find. I find Carmax seems to use s basic price structure for 911s and does not factor in options. That same car at a dealer is at least 19k more.

sorry but i will humbly accept the title for the purchase of the year (2016). Let me explain. About 11 months ago I bought a 1 owner, CPO (until 12/28/18) 2012 C4S with 27k miles with PDk, PSE, Full Leather, Clear tail lights, sports chrono plus, dynamic headlights, Bose, navi, illuminated entry in stainless steel...etc for 62.5k at a Porsche Dealership. Someone said that I was basically getting to drive it for free for the year. I think it's really difficult to beat that
Cherry on top:
CarMax offers a 6-year, 125,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty that is accepted by the Porsche dealership. Someone can drive daily for 4 years (buy a new set of seats ) and sell it for $55K with 2 years warranty.

What color was it?
I was looking at ones like you described for 80k last year...

it was black. Link still works. Was shocked that car somehow ended up at a friggin CarMax. Previous owner either wasn't too wise or has more money than he can care to care about.

My ideal 911 would be what you have. Always prefer the GTS but they are hard to find and prices are all over from the $65-85K w/20K+ miles.

This 2011 GTS Cab is advertised as a C2S cab. 50k miles and $62,501, manual. Not too many options.
I'm not sure if this is a good buy, i haven't been following GTS's.

Price is a bit high even though it is a GTS. It has high miles (and associated wear on driver's seat) and it is approaching prices that make CPO possible.
