My new-to-me 911S
Hello folks! Longtime lurker, first time poster. Reluctantly sold my cherry e30 M3, which was just sitting pretty in the garage collecting dust- albeit appreciating in value. No fun to drive- or at least, I was too afraid to drive it. Sold it, paid off bills and enuff left over for this '07 997S :reckon:
We all know how hard it is find the "right" Porsche configuration, when one can't afford the luxury of building one new. Not wanting to settle for just any run-of- the-mill 997; I had a mental list of my criteria, which essentially meant I would be searching for a diamond in the rough: 2006+, <60K miles, "S", Carrera White, either Terracotta or Natural Brown, PASM, Sport Chrono, Sport exhaust, full leather, Sport steering wheel, Sport seats, and bonus would be embossed Crests in the headrests!
Well I'll be damned, this exact configuration showed up at Porsche of Fort Myers, FL  While normally reluctant to deal w. "stealerships", I just couldn't pass this one up and I pounced on the deal. I'll have to say, my experience w. Porsche of Ft. Myers exceeded my expectations and it went as smoothly as an out-of-state, sight unseen purchase could possibly go. The PPI & DME reports checked out great, they accepted my offer… !
Of course, you can't have it all, so I have been hell bent on tweaking it to perfection, and to reflect my personal taste. That meant that the first to go was the Carrera script decal along the side.
My roots, all gone except for the e46 M3- it's just the best bang for buck!
Pre-delivery:
Now you see it, now you don't. The secret to removing decals on body panels is to use a clothing steamer. I was able to remove the decals from both sides in @ 30 minutes. No damage to the paint!
Before the ink was dry on the deal, I was already shopping for parts I bought a mint set of H&R springs from an awesome member here. The best part was that the springs came w. a complete set of turnkey PASM struts, which were of lower mileage than the PASM's on my car. I bought all for the price of just a new set of springs!
I found a nice set of wheels on Tire Rack, Porsche specific: 19 x 8.5, et 52 & 19 x 11, et 67. Ordered 5mm & 15mm spacers from ECS Tuning. Took the parts to the very capable hands of RRT in Dulles, VA and BAMMM!
The wheels are matte anthracite, found matching center caps w. painted crests on eBay. It's all about the details!
Next up, I ordered the oem front Aerokit bumper spoiler from Suncoast- the last one in stock and a Getty Design ducktail sport. Those are next to be installed so stay tuned…
In the meantime, I turned my attention to refreshing the lousy "rubberized" interior bits that were an eyesore. I also have plans to remove all of the ugly wood interior bits. Wood, especially fake, has no place in a 911 IMO!!! I will also be breaking up all of the tan w. some silver & black alcantara bits.
Fortunately, this car was in pretty minty shape to begin with, so the refresh was minimal. These pieces had to go! I decided to add contrast by replacing the tan trim w. black, also more resilient of course.
Did someone say sticky buttons?!
I think the previous owner wore a thumb ring Found a clean replacement on eBay, what are the chances?! SOLD!
I hate wood! Did I just say that? LOL! Thank you DCT Motorsports (eBay), for this rewrapped set.
The center console had wear all over, so I found this, thanks to Polar Porsche in Medford, NJ. Drove up for the install and core exchange. Yuri, the owner, is awesome! He also changed out my old serpentine belt in 10 minutes! Oh, don't worry about the dash trim (cupholder, etc.) all of that will be replaced w. silver color matched to the center console.
I have a rewrapped Sport steering wheel en route from Latvia, thanks to Lederman on eBay. It's flat top & bottom, thicker, black alcantara to complement the headliner. I also have en route an oem GT3 alcantara shift **** & e-brake trim to tie everything together, yet add contrast to the tan interior!
I'm not into ICE at all, but I did notice that the previous owner had this "vintage" 30-pin iPhone connector installed. I found this cool little device that plugs into to old-style iPhone connector and turns it into a Bluetooth interface for music play back (A2DP protocol). Voila, instant music streaming from any modern device!
Well that's all for now, stay tuned for more!
UPDATE! July 6, 2015
Dropped my 997S at my body shop on Wednesday, went out-of-town fro July 4th weekend, came back and picked her up! As promised, here are some quick & dirty phone pics of the Aerokit front bumper spoiler and the Getty Design ducktail sport. I'll get better pics up after the weekend. I have new chrome 911S emblems that will finish the rear off, other than that, I am done w. the exterior modifications! A couple more finishing touches on the interior, that will dramatically improve the look, visually breaking up all of that natural brown!
Colormatched dash trim strips are in. Steering wheel just arrived from Latvia, going in this weekend!

They are great! Was originally looking at OZ Ultraleggeras, but black is overplayed and silver is blah! Gloss black, especially w. polished lip is circa 2000 and plastidip doesn't belong on a Porsche! These are available in this matte anthracite which look just right... For what it's worth, they are JWL certified and weigh about the same as the Ultraleggeras.

Fantastic work on the interior.
I love those decals and they're on the build sheet. I thought I'd remove them as well when I purchased my car but after giving it a couple weeks, really grew to love them. Different strokes for different folks, enjoy in good health!
