Another defector to better oil. Motul 5-40w goodness. Warm idle oil pressure 3.5 bar versus 1.5 with M1.

That's quite the change in oil pressure at warm idle...was the pressure always 1.5 with M1? Or did it lower with time? I ask as my '05 C2 is at 500miles with M1, and I'm at 2.5bar.

thanks,

You think its a good thing to over 50psi of idle oil pressure?

I was thinking the same thing. I'm at 1.25-1.5 BAR on DT40, which is also a 5W40, at 200*f oil temp.

Maybe "warm" means something different to OP?

In addition to what does warm mean, I also wonder what the pressure gauge reads with car on engine off. My oil pressure sending unit failed and would only read 3.5+ after warm up. When I had the car on but engine off, it would read 1 instead of 0.

It took you long enough to change. Motul FTW!

I'm a new owner of a 997 turbo. Is also recommended for the turbo? The difference in pressure is substantial. Where do you guys buy the oil? I can't find it anywhere in Canada. Called a bunch of different suppliers

OK, cough up the rational..... I am interested (in a good way!) and don't plan to slam.

So, questions:
1) Why?
2) Why is higher pressure at idle good?
3) Why is Mobil 1 less good, what is the matter with it?
4) Bonus question: Why do you feel tilting your car is a good thing to do? I have been warned that it may cause the sender to recalibrate and result in incorrect fill readings.

Seriously, I am not looking to bait you, I am just curious about your reasoning or information you used.

Peace
