Default Windshield washer fluid

Need to top it up, or so the dash says. So, do I need some fancy Porsche approved stuff mixed with unicorn tears? Or, is the same stuff I put into my wife's pickup truck good enough?

Your Porsche dealer sells an inexpensive concentrate. Get some distilled water and dilute the concentrate. Distilled water is needed for many reasons, too long to discuss here.

I guess I am just doing it wrong? I purchased a bottle of Rain-X summer bug formula and just poured it into the reservoir. What a dumb-*** thing for me to do?

The stuff with unicorn tears is for the high intensity washer system on air cooled 911s. The problem with the cheap stuff is the the alcohol content is too low and algae grows on the screens blocking the system. Buy the good washer fluid. I bet it will last years.

I use the RainX stuff..... I think it clogs the jets a bit... I still like it but then again, I like breaking the rules. (I think I will run out and check my oil level with my car tilted.... hehehe....).

Peace

Uhh... why does he need some special concentrated Porsche washer fluid??? Is there some special German spec???

I just use fluid from the local auto store... and surprisingly my car is still running... lol

Washer fluid. Can't really see any benefit of using Porshe stuff. I use the normal stuff found at the gas station. Some people even take pride in only using plain water. I have actually thought about using only water due to the canvas roof but nah....

Use only the OEM Porsche Window Washing Fluid. Our windshields are sapphire crystal edged in blood diamonds. Since the Porsche OEM wipers blades are made from Narwahl *******, you can't just use "regular windshield washing fluid". Just like you don't need a license to have children, some of you people don't deserve to own a Porsha.

Yep and for God's sake don't drive if the rain is too acid. It should be balanced PH around 7.....always test before driving in the wet.

I use the Prestone Bug Dissolving stuff and have for years. Works fine. I don't particularly like Rain-X. Works great at first, then if used with the wipers starts to make the wipers hop and if you look carefully at where the hops land, there is actually deposited blade rubber there as well as the edges where the wiper blade changes direction. Since their washer fluid also has some of their Rain-X chemical in it as a maintenance dose, I don't use that either.

Use whatever you like, but do not complain about algae and bacteria growth... You've been warned.

BTW... the Porsche concentrate costs about $8 and has lasted me over 10 years and is still going.
