I went from Michelin to Hankook Ventus V12 - I thought they were pretty bad.
I knew the first day I made a mistake purchasing them when I got up over 120mph and felt a lot more unstable than my usual comfort level with the Michelins. They did get a little better with time but still not what I expected considering all the rave reviews. Starbucks runs and headed to the workplace yah great tires, but didn't impress me on spirited runs. Going back to Michelins.

I have a set of 4 Hankook's for sale, if you're interested? Have had great experience with these tires and am only selling due to purchase of set of DOT slicks. If so, I have ads listed on eBay and Craig's List if you search for Hankook Ventus RS3 18” Set of 4 Track Tires - 245/40ZR18 285/35ZR18. Feel free to call me (312) 523-6876. Thanks!

I have the sumitomos and they seems loud. Torn between MSS, and Bridgestone, but want the speed rating Y.
Also looking to go from a 265 on the rear to 275. Any performance or issues I should be concerned with?

Yes, the ridiculously expensive PSS won - by 3 whole points above the new Ventus Rs-3. Read it:

I was talking to a tire dealer today, as I am also in the market for new tires. They told me, the Hankook and Falken tires have the most customer complaints, than the other brands.
I was able to get a quote on MSS tires, installed and balanced for a total of $200 more than the the other lower costing tires.

I have a third set of Pilot Super Sports going on my 2009 C4S tomorrow. That will be my fifth set of tires (not including my winter snows). They're noticeably quieter than the PS2s and last noticeably longer. I've been getting 22/23,000 miles per set. That's with no track time - just about a dozen autocross events/season. In contrast, I got more like 17/18,000 out of the PS2s. I have no idea how long the other tires will last. All the other 911 drivers (and TT-RS drivers) that I know are VERY happy with MPSSs.
I'm actually getting ready to sell the car (GT3 coming in March), so I considered going back to N-spec tires. Porsche won't do CPO without N-spec tires. But, my service manager pointed out that there's NWIH that they'd CPO a car with 105,000 miles, anyway
So, even he thought that the MPSSs were a better tire.

I've also driven above the posted limit once or twice. I've also taken some turns.
The Kooks slide nice. Real nice. They signal the grip limit to me and it feels accurate for the car. In other words, it doesn't feel like I could do ALOT better if I had Michelin tread.
When the time comes I'm getting the Michelins!!! OK? But, for those out there who don't wanna spend, the Kooks are better than adequate. That's all I'm sayin'
