I can't say that about my wife, however, my 09 PSE is not as loud as my 06 was, and I find that disappointing. No, I will not spend more $ for a bypass, not worth it.

I can't imagine how stock PSE can ever be considered loud, let alone too loud.

I think OP has Fiskers or "gundo" hacked cans, since he says he doesn't have a PSE switch.

it would certainly seem strange to spend the money on actual PSE mufflers and NOT have the ability to switch between modes. for much less, the OP could have bought a set of gundo'd cans or fiskers, as you mention. no matter what, it still sounds like any of these options would be too much noise.

i have found that many of the aftermarket mufflers are actually quieter than the PSE open or a gundo'd set of stockers, as they have no way of bypassing the muffler body to any degree (muffler design/flow will obviously vary in the aftermarket). it's possible, i said possible, that the OP would be better served by a set of mufflers from the aftermarket. i know my cargraphics were quieter than my gundo'd cans.

PSE is not loud and does not drone....maybe the OP has other issues making something sound bad

I also don't think the OP has an actual PSE, but more likely a gundo hack, which he obviously can't turn off.

I think you guys are being a bit too harsh on this brother. Louder isn't always better, and it's certainly a very subjective and personal thing. A few months ago I swapped my stock exhaust for a Fister, with 1.75" pipe. That was way too loud for me, and Darin being the gentleman that he is offered to exchange them for another exhaust using 1.25" pipe. I would say the overall sound level is about 25% less now (compared to 1.75"), which is just about perfect for me.

Everyone is different. I don't own a Porsche (yet)...but if I was ordering a car, I'd be far more willing to give Porsche $2800 for a button that makes the car quieter than I would for a button that makes it louder. That's just me, though...

Whaaaa? The non PSE sounds pretty much like any other car out there. You'd spend $$ to make it quieter? Like a Prius perhaps?

no username should have '****' in it.

Yes. Like a Prius perhaps.

The car I bought happened to come with PSE but I rarely, if ever, use it and when I do, it's most often for the throttle re-map that's also on that "Sport" button.

Some people don't want to scream down the road setting off car alarms, waking babies, and generally pissing people off. I bought my car so I could move quickly and because I like the way it looks and handles. If these aftermarket exhausts made some PERFORMANCE difference, then maybe I could see adding one on... it's noisy, yes, but that's what you get if you want 30 more hp... But to add on noise just to make the car loud seems simply obnoxious to the rest of the people you drive by each day. A car should only be as loud as its engine needs to be to make it perform the way it performs. Any non-performance-enhancing add-ons are just there for posing.

I'm a big fan of the sound symposer in the 991. There should be an option to pipe as much sound INTO the cabin as you like... just keep it to yourself. There's a reason why people don't walk down the sidewalk with a big boom box over their shoulders blasting AC/DC. It's good music, but we shouldn't be forcing it on others.

It would be AWESOME if my car was silent like a Prius and simply blew everyone else off the road, like a ghost. "What the hell was that thing? It just blew right by us! Oh. That's the new 911 with the "silent" option. Sooooo cool."

Maybe I need a Tesla.

Flame on!
