Default Mod Men: How did you modified your Carrera

My wife calls it a "modsession" but from an early age I've been afflicted with the need to improve, modify, and/or out right build my tools, guns, mountain and roady bikes, PC's, SCUBA gear, house, and my cars to the extent of my DIY capabilities. Much of this began when I started out as a mechanical engineering student with only my own car and roady bike to work on. Add a few tours of duty in the military working on aviation assets and anything on a car seemed fair game afterwards. Another dozen years in product development for the IT industry and I've taken to heart that most/all products brought to market are a compromise of cost, profit, viable market price, target customer base, messaging, and if it's good enough then just ship it. So to me my 997.1 S is a wonderful sports car which Porsche brought to market but it's still a starting point for me to modify towards my own liking... if you're among those of us with the "need to mod" then post how you've customized your Carrera. Below is a listing of what I've done so far and some of the things I'm considering for future projects. Would be great to see what others are doing as well.

Engine:
- Complete exhaust system swap manufactured by M&M and distributed to the US by FVD. Includes 200 cell cats, long race pipes, cans, and tips using 70mm vs. 63.5mm stock pipes. http://www.fvd.us/us/en/Porsche-0/99...ps_4x90mm.html
- FVD ECU tune http://www.fvd.us/us/en/Porsche-0/99..._FastLoad.html
- IPD Competition Plenum and GT3 Throttle Body and DIY (note that the DIY was for the Standard Plenum but it's a similar procedure for the Comp Plenum) http://www.ipdplenums.com/index.php?...&id=4&Itemid=7
- EVOMS Intake https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...ow-intake.html
- FVD extended oil pan/baffle and DIY... http://www.fvd.us/us/en/Porsche-0/99...otorsport.html
- Porsche Skid plate http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...=CarreraSSport
- Porsche 3rd Radiator, Grill Mesh and DIY... http://www.suncoastparts.com/product//SKU9971TRK.html

Drive Train:
- under consideration is an LSD when I replace the clutch http://www.fvd.us/us/en/Porsche-0/99...20-80proz.html

Interior:
- Porsche Pedals http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...InteriorPedals
- B&M Short Shift Kit https://www.bumperplugs.com/index.ph...product_id=112
- deviated red belts TBI (to be installed) http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...ode=997S_Seats
- Leather Visors and DIY... http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...e=997S_Leather
- Self Dimming Mirrors TBI

Exterior:
- Door Plug https://www.bumperplugs.com/index.ph...gory&path=1_12
- Clear Signal Light https://www.bumperplugs.com/index.ph...gory&path=2_27

Brakes:
- Stainless Steel Brake Line TBI http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/...9%2C%20Each%20

Wheels:

Wow - some seriously modded cars here!

Mine is pretty simple:

HRE P40SC wheels in brushed tinted
Cargraphic exhaust
GT3 front spoiler
H&R springs for PASM

I'd like to do a GT3 front/rear bumper swap (might do 997.2 and add the LEDs), center exit exhaust, and an OEM Sport Classic ducktail. I'd also like to get a set of OEM Sport Bucket seats (I had them in my C4S and loved them). If I follow that plan, it'll all be OEM Porsche parts and look like a million bucks.

997driver, how do you like the LWFW? I was considering it but my SA(a buddy) thought it would not be preferred for a street car/DD setup like my car. Better for the track.

mzn, +1 on the matte black finish... smaller Radar signature? How's it holding up over time.

BTW, I'm glad you guys posted your mod list. My wife doesn't think that I'm the most obsessive any more and my birthday is next month... hmmm.

I have probably done the least. I was very careful when ordering it (learning off others on Rennlist), thus having most of what I wanted from the beginning.

Euro side marker lights
Hard install of Valentine 1 remotes in front console
X51 exhaust headers (cleaned up inside for better flow)
Added 12VDC plug in the front trunk (for a refrig)
CoComats
Tooki Blue Tooth phone system
Ceramic coated rear exhaust tips
LED front and rear turn signals
Luggage straps (rear)
Front trunk liner
Billet Aluminum gas cap
Custom Front license plate mount
Front end skid plate (ABS)
Magnetic drain plug (swap in periodically)
LED rear license plate lights
Whiter headlight (incandescent) bulbs

Default LWFW

USMC_DS1, I will post my mod list later, it's long I did install an LWFW with a heavier duty clutch with damping springs. Performance is great if you want a freer revving engine to match quick shifting. Just don't expect acceleration times to fall much, if at all. Biggest downside is the GT3-like clattering noise at idle and light throttle. My worry of difficulty in moving off standstill was unfounded.

I like the flywheel. Engine noticeably revs up quicker and feels like weight had been taken off of it. There is some chatter but it's not loud enough to be annoying. Also, difficulty of starting the car from a stop wasn't increased at all, everyday drivability remains.
