And I spend all my money on single malt. And since getting car, strippers. Wife sort of po'd at one of the 3 choices, but since not talking to me anymore not sure which.
Understand your point. If you have non-tie approach I'm open to redoing it.
Prefer not having to stick arm in there again but if needed I'll take earlier suggestion and have large scotch beforehand to premedicate.
You can hide the zip ties on a 997.1. This is mine. I pull the zip ties inside the horizontal bar. Cannot see it if you stand in front of car. You can do it without removing bumper.
Does look good. Laphroaig for whomever volunteers to stick arm in my grill and do this. At least I assume that's what it takes.
Instructions how you did it?
There are several grille/mesh threads here. In one of them I posted measurements of the mesh and a short "how to". Cannot find the thread now though...
Basically you start with cardboard and test until you have right shape. Then you cut the mesh. When done you can actually slide it in between the bars in the grille and fold it up in place. Helps to put in a few cable ties in the mesh to use for guidance.
Hello everyone. Warm compliments on this informative thread. My intention is to take this DIY project one step further. My 911 is white, and I recently chromed the wheels. The plan is to spray paint the plastic horizontal grill slats chrome color, before putting in the mesh behind them, to "match" the color motif of my 911 (997.2).
The painting has to happen regardless, to "fix" those areas of the slats, where the old paint has bubbled up and peeled off. So, I got the idea of trying my hand at painting them chrome, instead of the original silver color. I am aware that Suncoast sells replacement grills (either silver or black), but changing them out has to include the time and cost of removing the front bumper, etc. Not really interested in this, so I will dare to try my hand at DIY.
Wish me luck, everyone. Will try to post before and after pics if possible (actually, if the project is a success. Otherwise, I will hide away in shame, and hope no one remembers this post :-)
It a plain ole S. Not like it's a turbo or anything really cool. And I spend all my money on single malt. And since getting car, strippers. Wife sort of po'd at one of the 3 choices, but since not talking to me anymore not sure which.
No flame, and have good point. Email me so I can send address and you can send me commercial kit for Xmas.

Has anyone tried this Customgrills.com kit for 997.1? It has the pre-cut pieces. I am wondering how precise the fit was and if any neoprene rubber edging was used.
