Second Oil Analysis on 11 GTS Motul Xcess 5W-40
I received my second oil sample back from Blackstone. The first was done at 2000 miles on the factory fill Mobil 1 0W-40. The current one was done at 10,400 miles with 5000 miles on the oil, Motul Excess 5W-40. The oil was changed at 5000 but I didn't take a sample. I went with Motul again on the current fill.
Here's the comparison of the 2000 mi. Mobil 1 sample and the 5000 mi Motul sample done at 10,400 total miles.

The Motul below average viscosity doesn't impress me and for the price you pay for that stuff it should be out performing Mobil 1. Granted you only had 2k miles on the Mobil 1....it maintained viscosity better.
5000 mile interval...what would those viscosity numbers look like with 8-12k miles? I'm not sure you would ever want to test the waters but 5k intervals seem prudent for these cars especially if you drive your car hard like I do.
If anyone else is running Mobil 1 it would be nice to compare test results at the approximate 5k interval.
Thanks for sharing.

My intervals have been once a year which amounts to 3k miles. Seems like a safe interval based on these results.

8k interval Blackstone Report
I found this report. C4S with 8k on the oil and 40k on the car. Out performs Motul.
I'm not sure you need to be a chem e to understand these reports but to me the Mobil 1 out performs the Motul.

That's what I thought you were doing Alan....
BTW I don't think the Motul is inferior in any way. Blackstone comments on the viscosity said that it was fine but it makes me wonder about their averages and the performance of other synthetic oils especially now that I've seen the GT3 numbers above.

The higher Zn and P was what I was looking for in the Motul and why I switched.
