I will put a good word in for the Hankook V12's also. Replaced Pirelli p Zero. The Hankooks are smooth, quiet, and seem to handle very well. Have not tracked them yet, but pushing them fairly hard on country roads and I like them a lot. Good price too.
I have the Hankook V12 and it's an exceptional tire. Low road noise and really good grip. I've read a lot of reviews on these tires prior to purchase and they've all been really good.
Same here. On my factory 19" Turbo wheels, I use the V12s for daily driving duty. As others have said, I find the V12s to be very competent for non-competitive driving. I did an autocross in the V12s, and they are a bit dicey when pushed to the limits, but for DD use it's perfect. Got 'em off www.tirerack.com.
I have a separate set of wheels and tires for the track (18" BBS LMs and Hoosier R6 tires).
Get the S-04, almost as good as MPSS, but at a much better value. I wouldn't really put Hankook's on a Porsche.
While I would also prefer the MPSS, PS2 and S-04, nothing wrong with Hankook tires on a Porsche. Hankook makes solid performance tires at very reasonable prices.

Good value indeed, but their street tires have a lot to be desired... and sponsoring an event or car doesn't mean anything, just means Hankook paid more to get the tires for that series than others.
What is an N rating and why should it be important to me?
Only certain tires are approved by Porsche for the wheels they use. if you have aftermarket wheels then it's probably no big deal. The Michelins are not rated for Porsches.
Couple tire places explained it this way to me, so if it's inaccurate please advise.

What exactly do they have a lot to be desired about? Have you driven them? There are hundreds of positive reviews on these tires. I have driven the EVO's on the street and track and found that they live up to all the positive reviews as it seems have others even on this thread

Its to do with the speed rating, doing 175 mph you'll need the correct tire.

Do you have any personal experience with these tires? If so please be more descriptive of the problems or lack of performance you experienced." Much to be desired" isn't what I've heard from anyone else about the Hankook.
r-s3 hankook are very decent street/AX/track tires. they get in heat well.
racing tires in series are most likely Z214 DOT. as i understand they are not bad.

I had a set on my GTI a few yrs ago, and it had excessive wear, very unpredictable handling at the limit, and poor wet performance. Maybe they've improved lately but in geeral they do not have the same R&D and racing pedigree of Michelin, Bridgestone, Pirelli, Dunlop, Yokohoma, Toyo or Continental.
Having said that, it is very good value for our tire size specially if its simply for street. But as old saying goes, you get what you pay for!
