Default Porsche Sport Driving School--Barber MS Park

I was one of the lucky ones to receive this as a gift for Christmas. What a wife!

Question for those who have attended:
The materials say that you are "assigned a car from their fleet. No random switching." Their fleet includes all the models (911, 911S, 911 turbo, Cayenne, Cayman, Boxster.) Can anyone explain how this works? I have a new 911S, and I don't have much interest in a Cayenne, or turbo, etc., or rather, I have a lot more interest in a C2S. They randomly assign you a model, and that's it? Am I not understanding something?

Hey Blue Jay

I suggest giving them a call once they are back from the holiday.
I know I have a bunch of questions that I want answered.

When are you planning on attending?

Hey, Skibum

Congrats on your gift! I saw your thread, but did not want to jack it.
Yeah, they're closed today (Monday, 12/26). I'll call tomorrow.

My wife signed me up for an immediate couse, so I don't hem and haw about the cost and try to back out. January 14-15 Performance course.

She booked the recommended Renaissance Ross Bridge, and the shuttle (about 40 minutes drive). I will possibly change that and stay at the hotel across the street.

Post whatever info you find out. I'll do same.

Looks like you will be there and back before I go, so be sure to give me some tips.

BlueJay, you will be on the track with a Carrera most of the time. You will have the oportunity to drive a session in a Carrera S and Turbo. The Caymen is for the Auto Cross and the Cayenne is at the end of the day for some quick off road driving. You can call PSDS and request PDK or 6 speed if you have a preference or physical issue.

I have attended the first and second two day courses at Barber. The first one you are on the track with non-S most of the time as the above post notes, with one session in the S. The second two-day course you are in an S most of the time with a session in the turbo. The time in the other models is on the skid pad and autocross as well as some off-track skills classes. You are never on the track with a non-911 model in either first or second two-day course.

Good choice to book a room across the street from the track. The hotel Porsche uses is a long way from Barber and pretty pricey. But don't miss their dinner party at the hotel. It's beautifully done in a private room.

In fact, everything about the two-day course is exceptionally handled. You'll have a wonderful time...and it will surely ignite a desire to begin driving DE events with your own car when you get home.

I also received a wonderful gift for the PSDS 2 day performance course. Going in early April. Drive a C4S pdk and did 4DE events and solo Proformance with Don Kitch in Seattle. Have winter driving skills class in Bremerton in Jan to test my Pirelli winter tires. Wife has manual Boxster 05. Will prob opt for 6MT for the birmingham experience. Staying at Ross Bridge. Congrats on your XMAS present.
