Default Can you recommend a good brush for cleaning inside the wheels

I am tired of banging up my fingers on the caliber when cleaning the inside of my wheels during a car wash. Can you recommend a brush that would be able to reach the entire inside of the wheels and won't scratch it ...

thanks !!

I use the Long-Reach Wheel Scrubber Brushes from http://www.griotsgarage.com
http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/...ortby=ourPicks

and the Uber Spoke Brush from http://www.detailersdomain.com/

I recommend the EZ-Detail brush, which you can buy from Moe at Glistening Perfection (a Rennlist sponsor):

FYI, it's a caliper, not a caliber.

This is the best wheel cleaning tool I've used, hands down.

It gets behind the caliper but you need to move it around to the inside of the rim really clean

turbostick looks interesting. I have tried several, but you still have to get your hand in there to properly dry them. I've even tried the electric leaf blower, but the things need to be hand wiped dry in the end. That's been my experience, anyway.

You might try posting your question in the Concours & Car Care forum.

I also find most commerical brushes are too short for the rear wheels so I made one about 20" long. The sprong is 3"x3" about 8" long. I just jab the wooden stick into the sprong and tie wrapped it.
Hope this helps

Wal Mart has a brush that's used to clean ceiling fan blades and it works great for getting up close and personal when cleaning wheels... It has a wire frame that allows you to bend it to the shape you need.
Also, Wal Mart has a small toilet bowl brush hat is great for getting into the lug nuts ... not perfect but pretty darn close....
Another trick is to wash them frequently so they're easier to keep clean....

For decades, I have tried countless wheel brushes.

And seriously, the best one I have tried was the infamous household Swiffer Dusters (our wife or girlfriend might already have one at home.) It works like a charm.

- Its handle has a low profile sharp that can reach into wide wheels, yet its back is soft rubber (no metal parts) that won't scratch the brake rotor accidentally.

- Its dusters are designed to be disposable. I usually use one duster per wheel, and then throw the dirty duster away. A fresh duster for each wheel guarantees no scratches by old debris from previous brushing.

- It is easy to get, many local retailing stores (Target, Safeway, Costco, etc.) carry it and always have it in stock. No need to order online and wait for days for the brushes/refills to arrive.

- Give it a try.

With best regards,

I have a dedicated brake dust old tee shirt for that purpose.

I am tempted to buy the "wheel woolies" which seem to be the latest in brushes.

I also use a old mitt for the spokes and for the most part can wedge it in to clean the barrel behind the spokes.
