If you really want to do a great job, you gotta take the wheels off the car. Once or twice per year. I also affords you the opportunity to clean & dress the wheel wells too. Wax the wheel's barrel with RejeX wax, and the job will be much easier the next time with just using warm soapy water.
The slightly extra time is costs you to jack up the car, and remove the wheels, is made up by the speed and thoroughness of your completed job with the 4 wheels and wheel well areas. This is a must do project prior to winter hibernation. I use Aerospace 303 on the black plastic wheel well liners.

Is there some reason why you couldn't use an electric drill instead of a cordless.
In most, if not all replies , a cordless drill is specified. I can see where it would be very convenient to not be dragging that cord all around the car but is there another reason?

there I was thinking I was the last man without a cordless drill...
I wouldn't want my electric that close to water, but that's me.
