Default Poll: What would you buy with 175K?

Ok need some help as I am confused. I have the money and could spend 175K. I have a 2008 M5 and love it so I am going to buy a great 2 door car for me.

My needs:
1. 2 door
2. Great performance.
3. Looks sharp and not many out there. I live in the Bay area.
4. The biggest factor is best return on investment. I am looking for something that will hold up financially the best in the long term,
5. I will drive it 3-5 K max per year.

I have considered:
2011 TTS
2010 TT
Ferrari F430

I still haven't found the right car..

Please help with suggestions...

F430 with low miles. I have seen cars on autotrader etc in that range.

LOL. Tough problem to have being confused with $175k to burn on a sports car. I don't feel sorry for you.

Aston Martin DBS.

My top two suggestions, given the desire to hold value are:
1) Ford GT
2) RS 4.0

+1 on the GT3 RS 4.0 - it looks an instant classic!

I'm confused by this statement. "Return on investment", to me, implies the value will INCREASE. But the types of cars you listed are ones I do not envision holding value, much less providing a return on investment. Especially with the F458 out, F430 prices are starting to drop.

Your criteria makes it sound like this is more of a financial/investment decision for you, not an emotional one. If I had $175k to drop on a car, but it was going to be more of an investment and I was that concerned about it holding value, I'd look into Shelby Cobras, or Ferrari Daytonas...that kind of car. Something that might actually INCREASE in value, not decrease.

Are you looking for something to be an investment? Or are you looking for something that just won't depreciate as much in the next few years?

I'd thought the RS4.0 was already sold out - that's probably not an option, and even if one were available it would be selling for well over its 185K MSRP.

There are a number of decent F430's for 175K or less. I'd probably look at one of those.

it would be helpful to know what you mean by "hold up financially" and "long term".

Yes, you can get the GT3 RS4.0 the usual way. It is sold out. I think the Ferrari 599 is ove 400K. That doesnt leave too many desirable cars available at that price unless you consider AM, Lamborgini and MB offerings.

Great responses guy. I am just looking to spend the money on a great car that is a classic and will over the years either appreciate due to uniqueness or limited production> If it does drop, I dont mind as long as its not a big drop...

If i can really buy something that would be a great investment later, i will really like that.

Sorry guys, i know its not an easy problem, looking to have a great car, unique car and maybe just the potential to hold some value over time....

Great recommendations so far.. I am searching

I was thinking of a used 599. They are around $200k and you may find one for $175k.

I would consider saving little more money to buy a 458 Italia. This car is going to be a timeless classic no matter whatelse Ferrari comes up with. I am planning on getting one with in the next year oor two.
