Default I couldn't stand it.....

STICKY NO MORE!!!

Pulled these out and wiped them completely clean with alcohol....
(left=before, right=after)

And while I was at it, I took a big step further... removed the peeling climate control rocker switches, completely whipped off the original paint / coating, and put a few new coat of black spray paint.

(that's how bad the switches are before the work)
Attachment 805312

Very happy with the result. Made the whole dash soooo much refreshed / renewed!

Took delivery of my "new to me" 2011 997.2 C4S Cab. I know the drill: the pictures are coming soon in separate thread. For now, I'm putting her in the garage in anticipation of the 10 inches of snow heading this way on Thursday. Very very excited.

Excellent job. The "radio **** renewal" has been my easiest restoration. The PO did a good restore on the rocker switches. I have replaced the ashtray, shift trim, and headlight bezel. This rubberized plastic stuff has got to go. It may feel nice in the showroom, but a few years sitting in a 100-degree cabin - that stuff is a mess and scratches easily.

My 9-year-old Maxima and 11-year-old MDX have absolute MINT interiors. Those cars were $30-40k new. The C2S was $93k new. No excuses - even the one where we say we paid for engine and chassis, not cabins. Sorry for the OT rant!

What did I do to my 997 today? Loved it.

How difficult is it to remove and reinstall those rocker switches?

TIA

I didn't find it being difficult, you just need to be careful and patience when doing it. I'm not a mechanic or engineer. I just follow the instructions on these links:

Finally got to drive around town a bit with the top down for the first time since buying the car.

Gotta love the Sharkwerks exhaust.

Thanks Psymon.

Today, I took my old car up to the base to go shopping and THIS was nearby--I had to park mine next to it for a quick shot. NO. It's not a wrap job. It was PAINTED. (I saw the tell-tale overspray). Turned 83,000 miles moments later!

Took her to Costco for a full tank of 93 octane, brought her back home, backed her into her spot in the garage, checked the oil and added a quart. Kissed her goodnight before the snow comes tonight.Name: 2013-12-10 18.37.33.jpg
