I needed a little extra cargo capacity in my 997. I made a trash receptacle and a glove box bag. More information on these and how to get one can be found at this link: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...it-others.html

2 factors affects the oil level readings. The car has to be perfectly level and while the engine is hot after driving the oil level will indicate higher. This is normal because fluid expands in higher temperature. I would say 8.5 is a bit over by about 1/2 qt.
Yes, 8.5 quarts is too much for 997.2 S 3.8L. My 2011 S calls for 7.9 qts. Consult your owners manual. I don't agree with people who just jack up the back of the car for oil changes - it should be level and the filter housing emptied. Allow about a half hour for the oil to drain if you can. I always put in seven qts and then add about a third of a qt. at a time until the the dash gauge shows full. The owners manual mentions that fuel dilution is normal. If you do mostly city driving, I wouldn't put in over seven and a half qts.
Got something more fun. 997.1 C2S Launch Edition, 6spd, lsd, pccb. MUCH more fun than the GTS,
As always fitted aerokit the next day and carrera sport wheels on the way
Here is the first look,
I've said it before and will again - the '05 997 C2S Launch car is the perfect 997. The IMS is still replaceable and the rest of the setup on that car with the options is spot on. You probably pocketed $10-$15k too.
.... How could possibly be more fun than a GTS ???

I know this thread is a "what did you DO to your 997",... and so at the end of my post here, I'll give my own latest update...
So I too, may be biased in my preferences for what I buy and drive,.... current stable: '91 964 Turbo (14 yrs now),.. and a 997.2 GT3 (only owned for a couple months now,... but had decided on that car 2 yrs ago & started aligning $$,.. and then looked for a solid 1.5 yrs before finding it - Aqua Blue Met),...
.... I obviously have my own reasons for those 2 911's,... and everyone has their own reasons....
BUT,... I like to keep my mind open to WHY folks will say that a earlier platform can be more raw, more visceral, more exciting,... due to less nannies. Granted comparing a .1 to a .2 both in 997 is a bit tougher and devil is in details.... Maybe Pete (& Clubber!!) can chime in since it sounds like he's driven both the .1 C2S Launch Edition, verses the GTS
So I think this is a decent article to read (link below),... even though it talks to the RS variants, I think the comparison comments can be applied as to WHY a .1C2S might be more fun than a GTS.
.... I'm not 100% knowledgeable on all 997.1 variants,.. but don't they only have one button for both SC & TC,... so when you turn that off, you really get the free spirit? ...

What did I do recently to my 997? Ceramic Pro Gold-Pkg & XPEL Ultimate on front clip.

When I bought my wife's car, I didn't even know what a "Launch Edition" car was, but later finding out, I thought it might be based on the equipment it was originally configured with (black on black, Sport Chrono, PCCBs, etc - essentially everything except the Adaptive Sport Seats), so requested a Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche. That showed the build date was too late It's actually a large bearing car) to be a launch car, and it didn't have the option code for a Launch car on the COA.
Looked like this when we bought it - it's the pink pearl one now.
I swapped the Big Red brakes from my car with the PCCBs that were on her car since I need and appreciate them more than she
So I know what a Launch car drives like - just like hers, but with my seats, but I have never driven a GTS. I imagine it feels somewhere between what hers feels like and what my supercharged one feels like, since I think the GTS has around 400 HP and I'm around 485.
Alsmost removed the front bumper cover from my 2009 C2S. Thwarted by, from what I understand, 997.505.30100, which is "Front Bumper-corner Reinforcement Left" (there is the right one as well, of course). This piece has a nub that sticks out upwards and catches the sheet metal next to the headlight opening: https://photos.google.com/share/AF1Q...dHUzlDUWlZdFl3 Looked at videos/DIY of 997.1 and 991 -- they don't seem to have these stoppers, the bumper cover just slides out. Couldn't find any good information for 997.2. Does anybody happen to know how to get past that?
