Default oil change - before or after track day?

I'm up for oil change. Should I wait till my next track day's done next week or do it now before my track day?

How many miles on your current oil?
I change mine @ 5k mi or every track event.
Look at the oil temps in this thread

And how old is your current oil? Are you doing used oil analysis?

Imho change at every DE event is an overkill. i do 2-3 DEs per month this season, it is waste to change oil so often. I do it usually 3 times annually - 2 times during season so it goes like 4-5 events on same oil and then once in late fall before winter comes.

very good sign it is time to change oil to see how fast it starts to burn out after 2-3 sessions. when oil is new I burn almost nothing for whole day, as it gets beaten up i start burning up to whole bar per day, that is a good sign it is time to change it.

Oil is one year old, has had 2-3 track days, and only 4-5K miles on it.

I probably should do oil analysis...

if it is already year old - just change it. annual change is a must.

Change it for sure.

One oil anlaysis won't tell you much. It would only become your baseline. Still worth doing now, and after each change. I use Blackstone Labs.

Yes, change now, I would not take year old oil with 4-5,000 miles to the track.

I hope you have excellent brake pads and fresh brake fluid.

Thanks.

Yup, changing pads and flushing with Motul 600 (what I've had for a few mos). Also going air cabin filter.

Going to try Ferodo 2500, was absolutely fantastic on my Audi and it's stock Lamborghini pads... from what I've read it's THE BEST dual use pad you can buy. I am keeping stock pads for when I winterize the car again.

Oil change every 2 track weekends ( 12 -14 25min sessions) or 3K miles. (Brad Penn)
Check brake fluid before, during and after ea. event. Bleed as required and change every 6-9 months. (SRF)
Pads get checked as regularly and changed as required. (Pagid yellows)

All the above keeps me safe and sane. All the above costs less than parts/an engine, missing turn 1 at Watkins or T-Bolt or hitting a friend.
