Years ago with all the black trim, rubber, etc. the black guards looked fine. Today's need to be minimalized somehow or they grab your eyes' attention away from everything else.

Here was my 1981 911SC with a set that I cut down from the stock 930 ones because of the smaller flares. It did the job of protecting the gentle flares without being too much in your face.

Default Hey guys, what do you think?

Keep the 911 Carrera doors decal and black stone guards or remove the whole thing?

Just my .02 but black script and stone guards with a blue top doesn't blend well together.

+1 the blue top creates conflict with the black and not contrast.

That is why us simple folk (have come to) like white (with some black!)

Edgy, I am saving this picture. It's good to show my car the family tree.

Here's my C2S all dressed up in track day attire. I used matte clear and matte black contact paper to cover the areas that take the most abuse... I admit I may have over-done it a little, but it was fun, cheap and easy, and comes off after the event with no problems.

Do you leave the front license plate when on the track or remove it?

Also, how did you do the black surround on the headlights?

I remove the front plate and attach the tow hook.

The black surround is black contact paper like the rest of it. I found that if a cut the piece in the shape of a horse shoe, rather than try to make it one solid ring, I can get it to mold around the contour of the headlight without stretching or creasing. I made the horseshoe shape just slightly bigger than needed so that I could overlap it at the bottom. I found it really helped a lot to make a temple 1st out of construction paper, or thin poster board.

I like them. They are cheap to try and can be removed easily. No harm done.
