Default black stone guards- opinions

wanted some opinions from the RL braintrust.

I have a silver 997 C2, one of a few hundred identical cars in west LA

I'm about to swap out the wheels from the current lobster forks to the carrera classics, for ease of cleaning and a less busy look.

I'm also going to replace the silver Carrera badge on the back with a black one from Suncoast parts.

to finish it off, I'm thinking of putting black stone guards on the car. I've already bought them off ebay, only $45, and I'll install myself-so not a big investment, time or money wise. and it's a somewhat easy mod to undo; just another set of clear stone guards and an afternoon in the garage.

here's a pic of my car as it looks right now, and a PS a friend did of what the car would look like afterwards, with the new wheels and the black stone guards.

thoughts?

I agree completely; my original intention was to buy some of the Sport Classic black and chrome wheels, until I saw the price tag

that's why I'm on the fence about this mod. black stone guards + black wheels= no brainer. black stone guards + silver wheels...not so sure.

It so much depends upon the base color and the wheels. It draws too much attention sometimes.

No offense intended to anyone as this is strictly my opinion, but I don't care for that look; I'd skip the black stone guards. Love the Carrera classics.

I like the look and the lobsters - so few like the lobsters however.

BTW - the horizontal fence slats looks great.

I absolutely, positively, without a doubt DO NOT like the black stone guards.

I love the lobsters, and I like the black stone guards. I'm into the retro look.

I have a friend with a new white speedster and actually ordered them for my new white GTS coupe last week, and had them installed yesterday...from the side, dead-on, don't love them, but from any other angle, I do. Will try for a while and see how I feel...if not, easy to revert back. Took the dealership 10 mins to install...

I vote for clear, not liking the black, unless your car is black. Looks like a big blob of black on other cars, and looks out of place. Not a fan of OEM wheels either. But that's just our opinion, get what you want.

Seems like you answer your own question. You have the black stone guards that only cost $45 and you can easily replace them if, after a week (or however long), you hate the look. Give them a try and, as your interested in the opinions of others, send pics - then you'll really know what people think specific to your car and not the concept in general
