What do you do when your car gets rain on it
I have had my 997 for about 2 years. Today it got rain on it. I had fun driving it in the rain and playing with the stability management. When I got it back in the garage though I wasn't quite sure about how to manage the rain water. I ended up hosing it off well and then drying with microfiber. I didn't want road-grime and acid rain to stay on it. do you guys do anything special when rainwater gets on your P-car?

I do the same thing, but it is better to WASH it (spray alone will not remove particulates), then spray it completely, micro-fiber, and let it drip-dry the rest of the way in the garage.
Up here in the Seattle area, some people will actually get suited up and WASH THE CAR IN THE RAIN if it is right outside the garage!
Crazy huh? Well it rains most of the friggin' year, up here....

Here in Florida during the summer rainy season, when it rains we get in the car and drive it in the rain and then we park it in the rain and then when we are ready to drive it again we get out our umbrella, walk to the car that is being rained on and get in and drive it in the rain again. If occasionally it isn't raining we may even get the car wet on purpose while we are washing it. These are cars (very nice ones). They are made for rain, sun, sand, dirt (and sometimes even ice and snow...just not here in Florida). I don't think you really need to think twice about the rain.

When it rains....I drive it faster! LOL Seriously guys its only a car and I think Porsche engineers covered the "rain issue" in their overall design specs....I mean what do you think it is...a ferrari? LOL
Enjoy your car rain, sleet, or shine...I say.

1) Protect your paint with a good coat of wax atleast twice a year. This should minimize water spots as the
wax will cause the water to bead.
2) Avoid auto car washes as just a few trips to most such auto washes will strip your wax.
3) Wash your car regularly (once a week atleast depending on usage). Avoid fast wipedowns as they
can induce swirl marks on the paint (more so in dark colored cars)
4) Enjoy your car. I promise it won't melt in the rain. Really ...
5) Dr. Porsche will be weeping in his grave if he knows that people are fearful of driving their 911s when it rains.

Stay ahead of it with the wax which will protect the car's finish. Wash it and that grime will slide right off. Rinse with soft water; finish with the microfiber.

I double up on the Prozac.
Actually where I live, it's the love bug season that really/worries/bothers me. Rain ain't nothing. Getting those love sick devils off the car is a major project.

Rain is only annoying to me when it's not quite heavy enough and they make us go out on track with windows down despite the wet. A really heavy rain and I can roll up the windows, but with only light to moderate rain you can really get soaked out there.
Makes it really fun to play with the car though. Wet days are great for skill development and make for a fantastic instructing opportunity.

I'm gonna have to check to see if my GTS even came with windshield wipers.
Pretty sure it didn't.
Driving in the rain? Seriously?
That's just crazy talk.

PS. look more closely at my avatar picture. it was a pouring rain event at NHMS, solo SCDA.
