Insurance
Since the new car is almost here, I've been meaning to shop for some better insurance rates. We have 30+ years with our Allstate rep and we get great service (never had an increase due to tickets), but not the best rates (from what I can tell from the scattered threads).
Can anyone recommend some vendors with rock bottom rates, without having to give up good coverage?

I have had Allstate for 40 years and companies like Progressive and Geico quoted higher rates for my C2S. Allstate did say, however, that they would not insure a turbo. Wherever you go, just make sure that they allow OEM parts to be used for repairs.

Could be worth looking at combining with homeowners and an umbrella.

I too have had Allstate Insurance since 1985. Wife worked for them for 22 years. Here's some tips: Higher your deductable to max or $1000. Also if your P car is an additional car that should lower the rates on it substantially. (mine is and the rates are good). Here's more: lowering your bodily injury to 100/300 and property damage to 50k. Do the same with uninsured motorists limits. This should help. If your a DD and have a family that you like the most coverage for in case you happen to go out and cause a serious accident where people are hurt and you wreck a another high value car, than keep the higher limits.

Give Erie Insurance a call. They ranked very well with consumer reports and I've had very positive results with them. More importantly, their rates were much lower than my two previous companies, Liberty Mutual and State Farm.

We have 2 cars + house with Allstate. I'll try to get some competitive offers and maybe see if they would match or at least ccompete.

Been with Geico for 30 years. If their rates work for you check out mechanical breakdown insurance as an alternative to extended warranty...coverage up to 7 years/100K miles for about $100 a year for my 06C2S. 911 windshield replacement for $50.

I was a USAA member, but they made it damned near impossible for me to insure my motorcycles (I had nine at one time - one of their agents told me over the phone that if they had their way, they wouldn't insure any m/c's), so I switched to GEICO.
When I bought my 911 last June, my insurance premiums increased a grand total of $225 every six months over what I was paying to insure a 2009 2-door Honda Accord EX-L. I was pleasantly surprised - I honestly expected it to be more.

State Farm here..bundled cars, home...yes in Florida on the water too....jewelry/watches and umbrella together. Shopped around recently when we thought they were not going to renew the house due to water front and found Geico, Progressive ect to all be way high. Also State Farm at least where I leve covers me at a DE...got it in writing.
