Cabriolet Snow Day

Cabriolet Snow Day
Nice little storm in South Shore Mass. I headed out for several hours to buy a new truck, snow was pretty thick and my RE960AS Ultra High Performance M+S tires were not gripping. I had to to come back and swap out for my new Michelin Pilot Alpin tire & O.Z. Alleggerita HLT wheel package, which worked & looked great, HUGE difference with a dedicated snow tire. My C2S CAB is amazing in the snow, with the appropriate tire.

The ice was a bigger problem when temperature started to drop. Everybody were losing traction.
Going downhill with a traffic in front was a bit tricky. It is a finesse balance between clutch, 1st, and brakes to avoid locking and sledding.
Driving PA2s on Classic 18s is a quite fun on the back roads without cars. You can drift and dance without loosing the rubber.
Have a safe drive!

Thanks for posting such great shots!! I recall years ago being on the South Shore for Thanksgiving and awaking to some serious snow accumulation! Rear drive vehicles do quite well! Mine has it's hardtop on but will probably never see snow with where I am now.

Nice shots Todd! I was out there today too and it was fun!
A week ago it hit 47 degrees and I drove home with the top down from the Hanover mall. Always good to have the ragtop ready to go at all times!

I know, that's why I had to come back and put the snow tires on, too much fun, too many cars in my way. Glad I did, it was crazy on route 3 going up to Weymouth this afternoon, and worse coming back at 7pm with lots more snow.

I don't mind driving in the pristine "clean" snow but once you get down to the sh*ty salted crap, forget it. That's why I won't drive in snow (unless it snows while I'm on my way home).

Yeah, I refuse to drive in snow -- which is why I moved to San Diego!
Great pictures!
Last week I was at the local repair shop and it was raining outside. The guy at the desk asked me with surprise "are you driving it in this rain?"
I told him these cars were main in Germany where there is a lot of rain and snow. And, most importantly, these cars were made to be driven!
Enjoy the snow!

Put on my new Alpins in November and drove them in light snow here last week. Terrific tires in snow, a little less so on dry pavement compared to the previous snows, Bridgestone LM 25s. Car has a healthy chemical covering, which does not bother me as I would rather drive the P car than keep it pristine.
