Default Aston Martin Vantage replace my 997?

I have had my 2006 997S for three years, it is my 4th 911 since 1982. I am now starting to think about getting a Aston Vantage. I realize it is more of a GT, cost more to maintain and will not quite have the performance of a 911. Has anyone one else have an Aston or had an Aston? I have been lurking on the Aston, AMOC and petrolhead boards. Do I need to be talked off the ledge?

I see that you are making an educated decision. Otherwise, you might want to check these:

Yes, I've used both. The Aston belongs to a family member.

Pros: The Aston is certainly beautiful, inside and out. When you're in it everything look heavenly. All the parts are in leather, the stitching is gorgeous. The engine roar is loud and intoxicating.

Cons: Automatic transmission sucks! The whole car shakes while you're taking off slowly. The handling is nowhere near a 911. It is heavy and you can feel it while cornering. The drive is not as involving as the 911.

Hope this helps

drove one a few times, was deciding about a change.. for the money its slow and the auto really was throwing me back and forth..

if they got faster for the same price it would be a better comparison but they are so slow for the $

sin911 has summed it up very well. Astons are beautiful so I can't blame your mind for wandering. To add to the cons: reliability I think is not as good as a 911.

Both great cars, got different feel, 911 faster, Vantage more GT, luxury and maybe more eye catching. I really suggest to drive one to know for yourself.

At the end of the day, these cars are never logical purchases, but emotional. So, if Vantage gives you more satisfaction driving it, then that'd be your answer.

Only you know the answer to that.. I'm on my first 911, and I'm still amazed every time I get behind the wheel. The car is by far the best car I've ever owned.. and, as a working class nug, it's probably the best car I'll ever own.

Having said that.. I attended an Oktoberfest event in Greensboro this past weekend, and was taken by the beauty of this AM..

The car is stunning.. a true work of art on 4 wheels. But.. a guy could buy a new 911 Turbo S for the same money.. or a new 911 Turbo and save nearly $40K.. so before I pulled the trigger.. I'd be sure I put 'emotion' aside.

I've test driven the V8 Vantage in manual transmission and there is no comparison. The Aston, while beautiful, is heavy and slow. All comes down to personal preference I suppose...

In London, one of the best-if not the best-car cities in the world, they turn heads. An honestly beautiful car.

The streets of London do not allow cars to demonstrate performance.

I guess it depends on how you will drive and what you are looking for!

Of course it turns heads in the UK. UK car in UK = win.

Aston = Fancy Ford no matter what you call it. Aston would have gone bankrupt without Ford years ago.
