As I've mentioned before, I'm shopping C2S's and once in a while I stumble across a PCCB-equipped car. I don't know a lot about PCCBs and have generally written them off in my mind as being beyond the point of "diminishing returns" in anything other than a car that lives at the track. Seems unlikely that the heat dissipation advantages of ceramic brakes would have much value on the road in comparison to the price tag.
But high price options kinda disappear in the commodity muddle of the used car market and PCCBs can be had as a "bonus", but should they be avoided as a maintenance cost concern? What are the cost implications for brake work in future?
a dealer will tell you the rotors are lifetime, as they are intended to be. there are plenty of stories of people logging many hours of track time with pccb's with no issues. occassionally you will hear of problems, but i do believe they are rare.
as others will similarly say, i will not buy another p-car without PCCB's. the near-telepathic feel and lack of brake dust are awesome. probably one of my more fave options.

In over 16,000 miles of use I have never heard them make a peep. I would place them at the very top of my option list and wouldn’t even consider my next Porsche not to have them again.

man, can't believe i forgot to mention the unsprung weight savings.... good point. i have 23k miles and never heard strange noises.
Has anyone heard of any damage requiring replacement, like during a wheel change gone wrong?
people mention that concern, but i have not heard of that happening. i would only let my p-dealer change tires with the pccb's. They even suggested that.
It's quite nice to hear all the other people who have and appreciate the PCCB's without those who don't have them talking about what a waste they are. I don't notice any brake dust-just the standard road dust that might build up and it washes off with wash soap and standard wash mit.
I also have yet to read a thread where somebody actually had to replace a rotor.
Great remarks - I'll open my mind to PCCBs but the comments about reduced brake dust have me a bit confused. The rotors are ceramic composition, but the dust would come from the pads which are standard metallic composition, no?
I assume that the pads are still a wear item - are the costs related to these significantly different for the PCCBs?
I vowed I would have them in my next Porsche and I do. The weight savings is great, better performance and NO BRAKE DUST . Plus, I had my car painted to match them I like em so much. The no brakedust alone to me is worth the 8 Grand.
