All joking aside, I am not trying to me a smart a$$, what is the cost of replacement when they finally wear out, and do the new Cup Cars and RSRs use them?

It's really hard to say what the replacement costs of the ceramic rotors will be because (1) it will be, ordinarily, many many years from now, and (2) I would expect the unit costs to drop significantly over that time as they become more accepted by the public. To quote the cost of a rotor in today's price is unrealistic. PCCBs effectively defer brake maintenance costs.

Porsche has it. I used one this year after a blow out at the track. Fit over my front calipers on the GT3

Also, 54,000 miles on mine and love them. First 13K were 90% track.

For that matter, I'm not sure my 18" winter wheels will work with PCCB either.

Roberga,
Are the PCCB on the 6-GT3 the same size as on the 7-series? If so, could you give me the part number of the inflatable spare that you used? THANKS.

i have had a 997s 2 yrs without pccb and tracked it a fair amt...liked it i have another 997s now for the last yr with pccb about 15 track days and love it...however there is some small 1/2 inch divets about 1-2mm deep in the front rotors...going to the dealer next wk maybe get a set of rotors on warranty i got a set of rotors on my last car under warranty

got lucky with a nice porsche tech...

the pccb pads don't last long and are expensive but looking for a cheaper source, maybe be half the cost of the dealer (550 for front set plus labor!)

i have heard that changing out the pads before 50% wear may extend the life of the rotors which might explain my problem as i have gone down to the wear sensors once at the track....

apparently there are only 2 pads available for the pccb's oem and motorports (which i haven't tried and would void any warranty issues) so i stick with oem's

will try to get pics and let you know about my trip to the dealer for new rotors

Thanks Mike, keep us informed about your PCCB's and track use. I am considering them on my next car but with all the track days I love to do I am not so sure the PCCB's would be cost effective or offer any better performance I'd ever notice. I am very curious about them.

$550 for front pads...yikes....my Pagid Yellow RS29's just went up to $295 that I only use for the track. I can show you how to swap pads...it is so easy. I can swap stock to track pads while I am swaping wheels out and it takes long to jack the car up and take the wheel off than it does to change pads.

Front pads for PCCBs are about $350. (I checked before I ordered the car).

Not bad....Mike why are you paying $550 for pads? How many track days can you get out of a set?

yeah some dealers are really ripping me off....they also asked for 350 for an oil change!!!

goin elsewhere for the pads...get about 3-4 track chin days each day 150-200 miles...a lot different than pboc days...

the set now is only 2 track days old and having this rotor issue...so i don't think they last as long as the regular pads with the regualr brakes...

also a lot of people talk about recommending to chagne the pccb pads out at 50% to "preserve the rotors" again not sure what that means but certainly adds to the cost..i haven't done that ...maybe i need to?

anyone out there can enlighten me on the topic of pads for pccb's, when to change, etc

Mike, i would not have bought the pccbs if there were not on the car when i bought it used although i like them there are some issues as mentioned in another thread...

get the big brake kit brembo (in yellow too) and you have a lot more choices on pads too..

i hope my rotors are not toast...

mk

one "expert" told me that the oem pads for the pccbs don't last as long as they are designed to preserve the rotors (whatever that means) maybe someone else here can elaborate..

edgy01, thanks, i also just got a person to do them for about 350..i probably need to buy a tool set

Mike changing the pads on your PCCB's looks like the same way I change my stock to track pads out. It is so easy if you ever want to come over I will show you.
