Default Need Opinion on these RS98s

Well, I thought I found the perfect wheels for my 997S... Champion RS98s with PS2s 235/295 and TPMS, mounted and balanced. Only about 700 miles on them - perfect condition. I went to the Champion site to make sure the sizes / offsets were correct - the seller listed (correctly) that they are 19x8.5 et 53 and 19x11.5 et 62 - and the Champion site quotes those are the right offsets for the 997S.

So, I get them home and on the car and man do they stick out. Maybe I'll get used to it, but is this going to cause any problems? I figured "only 5mm wider than stock, so no problem", but maybe it's the extra 1/2 inch in wheel also pushing out the tires (1/2 of 1/2" on each side of the centerline) - so now that's more like 12mm sticking out, which is 1/2".

Options?
1. Keep because there's no practical problem, just wide tires sticking out?
2. Sell to somebody with a wide body (C4, C4S, GT3 RS, Turbo)?
3. Try to talk with Champion?
4. Return to seller because Champion website is wrong?

Thanks,
Ron

5. Keep them because they look badass on your car.

I've got the same wheels, & love the way they look, and also the fact that they are so light. Provided they are the offset Champion says fits, I would not worry.

I would call Champion or the dealer and convince myself that these were the right size, and then keep them.

I just put 12" RS98's on my new Turbo and I think they fit perfectly.

I have the same wheels and offsets and the rears do stick out a little. I bought them from Wheel Enhancement who assured me they are the right offsets for a 11-1/2" rim. They look less obvious on a lowered car.....

Ahh.... why did you pick that offset??
A simple wheel offset calculator would tell you the difference from stock

Offset Calculator

The clearance from stut housing to the inside of the wheel will be 1mm LESS
The outside edge of the wheel will EXTEND an extra 11mm

Me no likey your choice

There's no picking offset. They make just one (see their website). You select 997S and it gives you 19x8.5 et 53 and 19x11.5 et 62. I just didn't expect the rear rubber to stick out past the wheel well by 1/2".

Getting ready for dinner so no time to check the Champion website but do they offer different offsets for narrow/widebody or one size fits all? I'm asking because I had to use 5mm spacers to get mine flush and even that just barely made it. I.E......looks like you have the same offset as I have for my C4S.

Per the website, they list 19x8, et 46, 19x8.5 et 53, 19x11 et 55 or 19x11.5 et 62 as the correct size for the 997 / 997S. They were on a C4 with 5mm spacers and I could see where they probably fit and looked perfect on the wider car. Curious, when you feed in a Turbo, it defaults to the same wheel sizes / offsets. Looks like they don't make narrow vs. wide body versions...

Personally I think the rears stick out too far.

What was wrong with the 18" Fikses you had earlier? I thought you were a huge proponent of the "rightness" of 18" wheels on the 997 chassis.

Personally, I think your Champions look just fine. If you decide to lower the car and gain a little camber all round, they'll tuck in nicely. Remember what 18x9.5 et35 looked like on the front of the E46 M3? You don't have that kind of overbite

When I talked to Wheel Enhancement about this, they said they try to keep rear offset to a minimum of about 59mm, given that the narrow body offset is normally 67mm. So they know the smaller offset on the Champions will cause them to stick out further, and when coupled with the extra 1/2" rim width, adds another 1/4". Apparently most buyers of the Champions have been willing to accept the rims/tires sticking out further than the stock wheels. If you don't like it, you may need to source a brand that has an offset closer to the stock 57 mm (front), 67 mm (rear), and/or rim widths same as stock.
