A few answers... I'm not tracking this car any longer, I bought a fully prepared 964 C2. So I was shopping for tires and saw these wheels and said "why not - I'm reverting the 997S to street and these wheels are beautiful and already have TPMS and the 235/295 PS2s I want..."

I just went to storage and pulled 1 front and 1 rear. The fronts are actually 19x8.5 et 53 and the rears 19x11.5 et 44, which would explain why they stick out so much on my narrowbody. Bottom line, they stick out too much for my taste, so if anyone is interested in a set of as-new RS98s, let me know (I'll keep the tires - easier to ship too)...

I run 15mm REAR spacers on my custom wheels with 65 offset and they do not stick out. The rear tire wells on a 997S are huge. I would venture to say they delivered a set of wheels with < 50mm or close offset. My car is lowered around 35 mm (never measured for exact number but close).

Ron, my last 997S had the 19x11.5 Porsche Carrera Sport wheels which came with 305's on the rear. The stock offset for a 11.5 wheel is 67mm. i always though the wheels could puch out about 10-14mm more but basically you have a built in 23mm spacer I guess. They look good in the picture and the car will perform nicely too. Lower it and it will look even better! Enjoy these wheels but be careful in the latino section of town...those dudes love an offset like yours. ha ha :-)

Mike - unfortunately, the seller was wrong on the offset. It's not 62, it's 44 - so the tires stick out about 3/4 ". Thus, the wheels are now for sale (19x8.5 et 53, 19x11.5 et 44, TPMS included, no tires).

Ron,

I feel like I should apologize for the flip answer I gave before. I went and looked at my car, as I've got the RS98's with 305's on the back, & they do not stick out like yours do. Just as you've already figured out, you've clearly got the wrong offset.

I agree. Good move to sell them and get something else.

Ron I wouldn't keep them. It appears that you're questioning them and when I second guess something it usually isn't right.

Sorry, didn't see that you have made a decision. But at least it was the best to get rid of them and move on.

Looks like the matter's already resolved. +1 on Ron and Dan, I think they stick out TOO far. For the street I'm running a 4S 52mm offset in the rear which I think looks good but those Champions go a step too far. For the track, my 18x12 CCW are surprisingly inboard.

If I was getting the Champions I'd want to get an OEM or greater offset, just so I'd have the option of playing with spacers to make the 325/30/19 PS2 fit with a 265/35 PS2 front... could be kinda cool and I haven't seen anyone do it yet. Wondering if the 9mm greater ride height would look funny, I'm thinking not b/c the PASM is already 10mm lower than a base Carrera and the fenders will look vertically and horizontally closer to the bigger tires.

Your car is still high enough to clear the sidewall, but if you lower it any more or track it you will scrape or cut the sidewall and bend the lip on your quarter panel. If I remember correctly, this was a popular look on Toyota Corolla's 20 years ago! Keep the spirit alive!
