I guess you have plenty of space out on Long Island and not that many cars where you live. If you're a city dweller you park in small spaces with frequently less than 1" from the guy's front bumper.

You might want to try driving in a city and parking with those kinds of margins sometime - good practice for you.

Lighten up, I was kidding around - did you not see the "LOL" in my post? Plenty of space on L.I.?? Think Chicago during rush hour - 24 hours a day.

Get what you want.

One rare option is black guages. Personally I prefer black to any other color and ordered them on my Carrera S. I had to insist they were available with the salesperson.

My GT3 has aluma-look guages. I prefer the black.

Otherwise the car will be stunning. If you're getting full natural leather consider leather sunvisors. The standard ones are cheap plastic.

When they make parking sensors that stop all the other jackasses from hitting you I would buy them. But thats just me.

No problem Mussberger hit's the nail on the head - It's the other people I'd be worried about. Parking sensors won't help then

Jeff,

This is going to be a beautiful car and truly one of a kind, but I look at the options/money and ponder you are getting real close to the cost of a Turbo coupe. It is full leather, already very nicely equipped, and power... wow whole different animal. Something to consider.

Also please keep in mind, while this is your car and will be yours for several years, the next buyer will pay pennies on the dollar for these special options.

One last comment, as I regularly drive all 997s from C2 to GT3 RS, the C4S is my favorite 997! Perfect balance of handling and power (well the GT3 RS is nicer, but I rarely have the opportunity to drive).

Marco -

Thanks for the comments.

You're right, the return on investment, especially in the options, is horrendous. Said jokingly, "However, there is nothing about this car that is financially practical." Honestly, I realize that I'm buying options for me and me only. And, quite frankly, I'm not even considering the next buyer. When I sell this car, there is a good chance it will have 80-90K miles on it (or more), so my cash out at the end is a pretty fixed number.

Additionally, to me, the extra $10-15K in options is not earth shattering, but is something to consider diligently.

As far as the relative cost of this equipped C4S and a Turbo, well, I wouldn't be expecting the discount on the turbo that I'm getting on the C4S. Also, the delta between the two is still another $30-40K, with even just a couple options on the Turbo (that would be "required" ).

Anyway, it's been a fun process thus far. When the option selection window is closing, we'll see what really remains on the upgrade list.

Thanks for the thoughts.
