This discussion is approaching its sixth page (!) in the Off Topic Forum, where it more properly belongs.

Whether right or wrong I'm a bit surprised by the outrage. He says these type of things on a weekly if not daily basis. No doubt a stupid and ignorant thing to say, but it is a comedy show. I may not agree with what he said but I'll defend his right to say it to the death. : )

The issue is not his right to say it but should he have been fired. If his employer wants to bend to the will of the advertisers ($$$$$$) then that's all that matters.

Right....due mostly I think to his history of doing this from all that's been reported. If it was just a 1st time Freudian slip or something I can see a more lengthy suspension (without pay) for like 1 month or so since 2 weeks with Pay is basically a vacation for him at the $$$ he makes. A 2 week suspension w/pay is like a behind the back thumbs up from the network that it's almost insignificant money or time wise. So a month without pay is more like it....I am AD military and if you did something like this or similar and go charged by your CO you'd at least forfeit 1/2 your pay for at least a month or a few more. Two weeks is nothing.

But I am afraid he'll bounce back into another forum I am sure at some point....look at Rush Limbaugh, Mel Gibson, O'Reilly, Al Sharpton and others...different standard I am afraid or at least they seem to get more chances than the rest of us. My 2 cents...

Free speech does not mean there are no consequences to what you say. The free market has told the guy that they do not want him around. The system worked as it should.

Perhaps but there is something unseemly about Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson being the arbiters of what is "acceptable" speech. Rememeber Tawana Brawley and Hymietown?

Yes, but DG is too cheap to buy a membership so he can't go O/T.

exactly.
i too defend his right to say what he wants.
the constitution guarantees his right to free speech
nothing in there about a radio/tv contract.

Oh c'mon Rome, you know better than to say that.

DG is a newbie and may not be aware that access to the OT Forum is for Rennlist Club Members only.

But I agree, this is a topic for the OT Forum.

I can't blame you DG. It wasn't until around my hundredth post that I decided this was the place for me, and I signed up just like that.

Besides, it's not like membership will set anybody back real deep, unless they're sleeping in cardboard boxes.

Oh man, I've been busting out laughing at some of the funniest stuff that Dave (Coochas) has posted in OT under the thread about Cameltoe being in Wikipedia.

It's definitely a broader slice than the narrow supposedly higher salary 997 crowd, that's for sure.

Somebody once likened it to that bar scene in Star Wars where you get all kinds of strange characters parading through.

But after a while you get to know some of the characters and those who are more to your line of thinking. But, boy o boy, it can get wild there in a hurry. But you can't beat the entertainment value, that's for sure.
