Default No Front Plate Ticket

Can I get a ticket for not having a front plate if my car is registered in NY but I am in New Jersey.

they are reciprocal, larry the mower guy, (real name) makes a front plate holder out of a tow hook so it is removable.

I ran around for a while without one, but driving through all the villages in Westchester with the full on hack with PSE it was not worth the aggravation of getting pullled over with probable cause (No front plate). I put on the "lawn mower" gizzmo and now I dont even think about it. Actually I think it looks cool, off to the side like that.

Some time post a shot of the front end with that mount. I have a different design which also spares the drill-through-paint routine. Not good for tiptronic and X51 users however,--it goes over the central air intake.

Can you post a pic, or a link to the mower site? Thanks

Looked at it,--don't care for the offset look. Nice components, but it looks too asymetrical to me.

I will probably get one if you get a ticket. Knok on wook haven't get it yet. I think still better drill a couple of holes on the bumper.

It's a clever solution but I think it looks terrible off to the side. It upsets the entire visual balance and symmetry of the car. There has to be a better answetr to the front plate dilemma out there.

Rather than drill holes in the bumper I drilled 4 holes in the top area of the center grill filler panel, and put in 4 bolts to which I installed a couple of hinge assemblies. To that I attached the plate mount,--which is what the plate is mounted to. When removed you don't see a thing. The only impact is to those with a Tip and/or an X51 package which used the center for cooling.

I have Larry's kit. I haven't installed it yet, due to the fact that California is a little slow sending me my license plates. I will say the kit is well made and cleanly implemented.

JDC48 - If your car is principally garaged in NJ, but registered in NY, you run the risk of bigger problems if your car is involved in an accident. The vast majority of cops in NJ will not pull you over for no front plate, but it certainly gives them a reason if they want to.
Very truly yours,

Here's a shot of my work in progress on a no drill front plate arrangement. Will provide updates as time permits.

Four stainless steel bolts are secured in the center filler panel to which to mount the plate adapter which is under construction. I'm presently using a pair of hinges to mount the plate temporarily.
