Default Car and Driver test C6Z06 vs. F430 vs. 997TT....

I'm fairly surprised, looks like acceleration wise the ZO6 from any speed other than a dead stop, is quite a bit faster than the 997TT, and it outperforms the 997TT at the track. F430's lack of torque hurts. Discuss.

Nice article with an expected outcome in my opinion. The Z06 clearly has the claim of dollar value and the best lap times, but when it comes right down to it I'd rather have the other two cars and I'm willing to pay the premium for it.

I put 1200 miles on a new Z06. Amazingly fast car. Light and well made. And I sold it after going into low earth orbit in a lounge-type chair became old hat... and I drive high mountain roads for fun so it's not like I was just highway running it either.

GM is ALMOST there with the Z06... so, so close to a great drive but not quite yet. They've got the power down, they've got the build quality down... they just need to make the handling and the interior more GT3 RS like. Less bling, more exhaust note, steering so sharp that it would filet fish... and a little more visibility from the drivers seat.

I'm looking forward to the next iteration of the Z06.

As for the F-car... haven't driven it but the price is stupid. The 997tt though... well, say GT2 with me....

I would absolutely take the other two cars in a heartbeat myself. Build quality and driving experience makes the extra price worth it IMO.

I would love to see this same experiment after 20 HOT laps... I can't predict the future, but I would bet 997TT the winner of the contest!

jesus christ, two of the three are 11-second cars from the factory. It's also interesting that the F430 decimates the other two cars in in-gear acceleration.

I didn't realize cars were getting so fast. I will just have to make do with a piddling 355 hp, I guess

It's really amazing isn't it? Seems like only yesterday that I was teenager reading Road & Track and marveling at the Lamborghini Countach's 0-60 in 6 seconds and thinking nobody will ever top this! Things have changed alot since I was a hyper-masturbating teenager - everything of course except the masturbation.

PS Thanks for posting the scans,...I had it on my list of things to do!

I actually like comparos like these. I'm always interested in hearing what people in the biz have to say. All 3 of these cars are pretty sweet.

I've never like Corvettes, but the C6 model is one I'd almost consider.

Ferraris are amazing, but not sure I'd ever want to own one. I want a car that I can drive everyday.

That leaves the Porsche. I've always loved them and there's little question in my mind that they are the everyday supercar. I'm not too concerned that a Z06 will pull away from in in 6th gear. Unforntunately, I don't spend too much time about 100 mph.

You are misreading that. Those were accleration stats in top gear (i.e. 6th gear for the Corvette). I wouldn't be proud that the only acceleration test I won was in overdrive

The ZO6 will pull away from the Porsche from any roll speed starting at about 5mph. It's the launch from a stop that allows Porsche to temporarily get ahead of the ZO6.

Note it took 4.0 seconds for the ZO6 to go from 5-60mph, and it took the Porsche 4.6 seconds.

At this level it's almost ridiculous to be able separate the performance unless you're racing. Several people enjoy track days but the majority of owners probably buy them for the enjoyment of street use. And I have to believe that anyone that tracks them is going to modify them anyway for more "track ready" use, therefore the test numbers of who's the "winner" is no longer relevent.

Three different Monster-performance cars provide three different experiences. Isn't it great to have variety?

They should have tested the tip. It would have been much closer if not decisive for the pcar.

I drove the C6 Z06 and F430 back to back and the Z06 definitely felt faster. I do love Z06's, just sold my 2002 Z06, but the F430 is worth selling the house for, IMO.

What is it with you guys and the vet? I swear someone on the vet forum must be paying these guys to post this damn car on Renn every week. It's a nice car already. We all agree,..let's move on.
