Default Help with the Seatbelt ****!!

Hi

Is there any way to turn this chiming noise off ( apart from the obvious of
strapping myself in)??

Is there a specific fuse to remove, and if so does anyone know which one?

TIA

(BTW, before you feel tempted, I *know* that the easiest solution is to strap in )

I was thinking of removing the doors on mine. Just a PIA opening and closing them all the time.

Just buckle up and wait for a decent DIY disable hack. AFAIK, there are none yet.

Why does the obnoxious sound come on when the seatbelt is removed? Most manufacturers have figured out how to do it only on engine start.

what do you not understand about the warning chime being annoying at certain times. for instance when you are getting out to check the mail. or what about having to remove the belt to reach your wallet at the drive through?
like someone else has said, other manufacturers have figured this out by simply putting a delay on the warning chime or at least deactivate it while the car is not in motion.

Probably some insurance against future litigation when some bonehead tries to blame Porsche because they unbuckled their seatbelt and failed to rebuckel then had a wreck and got hurt.

You know, in America, no one is ever responsible for their own actions, someone else is always to blame, especially if they have deep pockets!

It's just that no other manufacturer (that I know of) does it this way and if it really is a problem I would think that the litigation conscious auto industry would all have dealt with it. As it stands Porsche is the only car I have ever driven that gives me this warning after I have pulled into my driveway and come to a standstill. Very annoying.

I drive my C4s 110 miles a day. I get out to get my mail, it's really not that big of a deal, unless you want to drive without your seat belt. Then it would be very annoying. And that's why I assume the poster wants to disable the chime.

Maybe this is obvious to people but the car is so computerized you can make it do anything. Buzzing you when the seatbelt is unlatched is just the beginning. It's gotta get worse, right? When insurance companies start telling mfgrs to program the thing to buzz and squeel when the driver puts his left foot on the brake or when the car is parked on a slight incline and the emerg brake isn't on. It's gonna be like there's some permanent PITA passenger who's got nothing to do but warn you of every possible "danger" however remote it may be.

Johnny Narcosis,
Great idea dude. Look at the weight you would save. Next comes that pesky windshield.
