Without it, the interior looks fine, but with it the car looks like it costs 150k (which is pretty darn close for some of us) !

On resale you'll limit your market if you don't have it, so it's somewhat worth the money. Other than that, it's a personal thing. I voted yes. When I shopped my 997, if no leather, no deal.

Maybe the leather dashes have been improved, but they used to dry and crack on Porsches.

No options on a Porsche are worth the price. They are all a ripoff!!! The Base price of the car is a good value since it is an amazing car. I put $12,500 worth of options on my car because you only live once and I can afford them. I look at it like I worked damn hard for my money and this is my passion so I might as well be happy. Besides, get what you want and when the car comes in you'll be happy. My friend has a ferrari and that is not worth it. Relative to a ferrari a Porsche with nice options is a steal (but a ferrari is still mega hot).

I ordered about $12000 in interior leather & aluminum options for a 997S Cabrio( Guess I need to have my head examined). They look gorgeous. If you can afford it and plan to keep the car a long time, dress up the interior. Be informed that they will not significantly increase the trade-in or resale price, versus a plain jane vehicle. There are a significant number of interior options on the dealer's order sheet that are not shown on the car configurator. Grit your teeth before looking at all this stuff, the prices can bring you to your knees.

I don't like the stitching everywhere. It "ruins" the interior for us minimalists. I didn't get it for that reason alone.

it did seem to add that high end feel to the car...like the ferrari, lambo, aston martin interiors.....

I agree with Immotola. Almost none of the options are worth the money, but that's not the point. Porsche and value probably shouldn't be used in the same sentence anyhow. However, many people would spend the money or already have spent the money on full leather and many other such overpriced options for a variety of reasons:

they can
its what they want
it makes the car that much more special
if you are going to spend 100k on a car, what's 3k extra
the car represents a long term desire and is a symbol of achievement for many

I think if you make too many compromises based on 'value', you'll find yourself wishing/yearning for the stuff you passed on. You see it on this board all the time: I shoulda sprung for the adaptives or full leather or PCCBs or sport chrono or shoulda gotten the S.
