The 997 interior is so much better than the 996 that it really does not need the full leather treatment... but I checked the YES box. The comment from AeroSmith is spot on:
...I find myself touching the dash a lot. It's a very sensuous option. Smells pretty good too.

Who gives a ***** about resale? If that's your worry, buy a Honda. I got the full leather because not many cars have that option so why not. Driving around in my 997 feels special because of it, very hedonistic. My only regret is to not get the rear console in leather.

Yes boolala, in Porsche speak "Full leather" is a package and doesn't actually mean all the available options are leather. It took me forever to finally get used to the fact that FULL leather and "full leather" are different. You increase the cost a LOT if you really go full leather, with all the options checked. It can be over $10K or so to really go full leather. Just the rear console is a $1200 option

In the 80s, Porsche stopped making leather dashes because of all the warranties they were paying out. Obviously they have started again. Is cracking still an issue, and do I need to get a dash cover like I had on my 85?

I thought the standard interior was fine and opted for the go fast stuff. Full leather wasn’t even on my radar beyond the “Wow, that is nice” reaction to the launch car. I’m happy with what I got. (And I can blow the leather money on mods.)
