For me it's not worth it. I got Adaptive Sports Seats instead, Sport Chrono, Nav, Bose, Heated Seats & Sport Design Wheels. You need to sit in the Adaptive Sports Seats - they're great!

this 'better re-sale' argument does not work... the more one pays upfront, the more there is to depreciate (in real terms). full leather's not worth it imo, but i still hv it (call me a hypocrite) b/c terracotta interior only comes in full leather.

p.s.: interior does smell great!!

You CAN buy the smell--Griots among others make a great leather scent--put a little on a cloth under the seat and the leather smell lasts longer than it does with full leather seats!

Anyway, one significant issue is the interior color. On my black interior, I don't think the lack of full leather is that noticeable. On lighter color interiors, however, I think the car looks a little cheap without full leather.

I didn't get it on my 996 and always regretted that. I have it on my 997 and love it. I will always check the full leather box in the future. I find myself touching the dash a lot. It's a very sensuous option. Smells pretty good too.

I doubt it impacts resale a whole lot. I was very happy with what I got for my 996 and it didn't have it. Most folks buying used 911s just want a 911, period.

Wink AS & Aerosmith have said it for me! but....

If I can get my better half to loose her sanity for a brief moment, that black & grey combo would look very nice in a white 997...I'm a year away from ordering, but the lobbying has alraedy begun in earnest, I have her ascent for a C4 now I have to plan strategy very carefully during the coming months!

The leather is very nice indeed . I dont need it on my S though even if it was for free. My car feels faster without the leather anyway.

I have been debating with the full leather option as well but after sitting in an otherwise well equipped S, I realized I didn't miss it until the salesman told me, "of course you can get the full leather option." Went to some other cars with full leather, had the wife in tow, she pipes up and comments that she didn't like the stitching, too industrial looking. I figure, OK, saves me $3K on a toy she begrudgingly says I can have. With that said I'm still not totally convinced. Certainly not worth the money, but it does have certain qualities.

You guys keep bringing up the wife issue. When I bought my GT3 I didn't tell my wife and waited for her to notice (I had a black 00 C2). She never did.

Luckily I'm in control of the checkbook or she'd have noticed the big, huge hole in our balance. LOL.

I think it's worth it. Aside from the PCCB's, it's my favorite option. As an aside, every time someone gets in my car, they eventually say, "Wow. This is a really nice interior" as they are rubbing their hands across the various leather surfaces. And regarding the aroma -- AGREED!

She just hasn't found the diamond ring she really wants yet...

I wouldn't take the leather dash it if it was free. I prefer the simpler look of the standard dash (which looks very nice, especially compared to pre-987/997), but the primary reason is to keep the interior looking good long-term. In sunny climates, there's no way to avoid shrinking leather and splitting seams when large pieces of the stuff are baking in the windshield.

However, I would pay extra for Alcantara covering the inside pillars, areas above the side windows, and sun visors (to match the headliner). IMO, these areas in plastic look far more cheap than the dash.

Can you add the full leather after market? There is a used 997S I would really like to get that has a great price and every other option I want, but it only has the standard dash.

Exactly my point about resale value. It's not that you would get more for a car with full leather, but that you could sell it easier and faster. Time is money.
