CDMA phone --- question
I have a CDMA digital phone (ALLTEL) and am wondering what I need to order to use the PSM telephone function of the 997...... I don't have a GSM phone. What should I do to get my phone to integrate with the current PCM?

GSM only. And if you don't have the phone stuff installed, you can't do anything. And if you have an earlier build 997, I don't think it is even possible to add the phone setup.

Well, if you can possibly get the GSM phone .... it is the BEST phone I have ever used. I'm not even sure the 8W booster is legal in the us - but who cares. I'm in the (SF) Bay Area where the reception really stinks (because of all the hills). The 8W boost is great. People ssay to me that the sound on their side is wonderful too, so the microphone in the car must be really good.

Yeah, I agree. It's the best mobile phone I've ever used in terms of audio quality, signal reception and transmission. Is that what it is, an 8W booster? I didn't know it was that powerful. Shhhhh, don't let the FCC get wind of this.

I did not order the 666 option but as I am taking delivery tomorrow, I wanted it installed after the fact.
I was told it would cost $1,600.00 PLUS LABOR!!! WTF? I swear to g-d the parts guy researched it and told me the parts were backordered, but it would cost $1,601.00 for the GSM add-on. Plus labor.
I think a second opinion is in order. Or third.

Talk to your salesperson, his manager or the GM and see if they can help you out on the parts.
Call around and get parts price quotes
PCA membeship should get you a discount as well
PN 997.044.900.71 Set, telephone module
PN 997.622.703.00 Optical waveguide
The install labor is 4.6hrs

Adam, were you on the fence when you ordered your car and it became too late to add it? Hopefully they'll be able to do it for you without too much hassle or expense. I am so glad I got it, and with the multi-function steering wheel, it's a breeze to use.

I heard that there is something called "Porsche cell solution" that will help work your current non-GSM phone with the Nav/Audio unit. Anybody else know anything about this?

Actually, I was under the understanding it was just a pre-wiring thingie for $900 and not a full blown phone solution that only needed a SIM card. Actually, I am over it if it will truly cost $1,600. But Ill investigate further or wait for a bluetooth solution that I am sure is only a year (or 2) away.
