Default Fabspeed v PSE Exhaust?

I have searched and read everything I could find here. I have an opportunity to buy a barely used Fabspeed exhaust cheap, which my budget would allow now. I put PSE on my former 996 and loved it - deep and throaty. I'm a little concerned that the Fabspeed exhaust may not sound as nice, but I don't know if the 997 PSE is comparable to the 996 and maybe the Fabspeed would work for me.

I know several people on the board have had Fabspeed for a while now, and the PSE's are finally showing up.

Any updated comments about Fabspeed and PSE would be very much appreciated, especially if anyone has heard both in person.

I had Fabspeed on my 997 for 1 day. I did not care for the sound, in my opinion, it was too much of a deep rumble at low rpm. At full throttle it sounds good, You may like it. It is a nice piece for the money, it's well made, and looks and fits good. I was used to PSE on my 996 and really liked that sound.

Now, I want to go with PSE on my 997 and hope it sounds like the PSE on the 996, has anyone heard both, that would like to comment?

I have had the fabspeed headers and maxflow mufflers on my car now for a few weeks, and i my opinion, it is a far better sounding than stock. I can't compare it to PSE, I have never heard it. You may want to also look into FVD export mufflers.

Thanks, joeacc. I would probably get PSE without hesitation, but I can't spend that much now so it would be on the wish list for quite a while. I can get the Fabspeed really cheap, so I'm probably going to just go for it. Glad you seem to like yours.

I've heard both and I would definitely go with PSE vs Fabspeed... this is my conclusion on the 996 cars... haven't heard any 997 with sport exhauts..

We'll find out now. Just bought 1000 mile "used" Fabspeeds for $500 - couldn't resist. The PSE is $1,899 at Brandywine. Braman Porsche has them on eBay for, I think, about $2,400. Brandywine said they don't come with the chrome tips, but the listing on eBay from Braman shows the kit with the chrome tips. Anyway, unfortunately PSE is out of my budget for now, so at $500 I'll give the Fabspeeds a try. Hope to have them on by the end of next week and will post comments (I can only compare with 996 PSE).

Vampire - PSE is on ebay from Braman Porsche for about $2,450 (with chrome twin tailpipes), and if you call Brandywine Porsche they had it some weeks ago for about $1,800 (without tailpipes, they said).

Hopefully my Fabspeeds go on tomorrow - will post comments after they are on.

Default Update

I installed the Fabspeed mufflers (no bypass) a week ago. They have a "different", sort of muffled sound, what I would call "smoother" versus a burbly rumbly sound with even the stock 997 exhaust. They did probably get a little louder over the past week, but not all that much. I didn't think they were any louder than my 997S stock exhaust (with Fabspeed cold air kit - which does add some nice sound and is a cheap, worthwhile mod).

As soon as I drove off from the install, I basically knew the Fabspeeds were not to my taste. I then ordered the Porsche sport exhaust and the chrome twin tips from Braman Porsche, who had them in stock (my dealer told me PCNA was out of stock and not expecting them for a couple weeks).

PSE was installed today, and all I can say is WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Beautiful sounds! This is what a Porsche is supposed to sound like!

I am not trying to knock Fabspeed - its a beautifully made product and may be great for some tastes. I do recommend anyone ordering any exhausts get out there and listen to them in person first (listening to sound clips on the web just isn't the same as hearing in person).

Now I gotta sell the Fabspeeds. If anyone has listened to them in person and wants them, I'll let them go at a pretty cheap price (maybe with my old 997S non-chrome twin tips after I make sure they will fit right).

Don't you love those tips too? Braman installed my PSE with the tips a few weeks ago. You will love it more everyday
