Default Porsche "Rip-off" Options of the Year Awards

THIS IS MEANT TO BE LIGHT HEARTED!

What are the most expensive options, real or imaginary, that Porsche can offer, that either have a huge mark-up, or have zero functional or aesthetic value?

My starter is either of the full wood trim packages

Do you have to pay for the 997 floormats, or are they finally standard? Cause honestly, it doesnt matter how much they are...Just the fact is enough alone.

How about the $150.00 "Metal Look" gas cap?

auto dimming mirrors should be standard on a car of this caliber, but my favorite rip off is 3,300 for " custom" colors like gt silver
like the man said, there's a sucker born every day, and two to take advantage of him

This car should have self-dimming mirrors, electric seats and steering wheel, and, at the very least, floor mats, as standard.

wasn't it like 980$ to have the switch console on the side of the power seats done in leather. Nay of the uber rare leather options are around the 1000$ mark.

(don't know if this applies to the 997 as well, but on the 996 that stupid stripe that runs acroll the dash, its 3 straight lines and 1 says airbag on it is like 400$)

For an option with "zero functional or aesthetic value" I gotta agree with Gary R. that a plastic aluma-look gas cap that costs $150!!! is the absolute pinnacle of sheer marketing arrogance.

Just think behind your gas cap door is your non-visible plastic silver painted gas cap...Maybe it's like women's lingere...makes you feel pretty but only you know it's there...

Default Sport Chrono S. Watch WINS this award!

Without a frickin doubt: The sport chrono stopwatch!

USELESS AND FUGLY!!!!!

Without it the $900 option would be just a $20 chip.

I mean who uses the stopwatch? A guy on one of these boards used it to time his wife's tennis game.

Even if you're tracking the car you use the unit that displays in the PCM screen.

Are you listening Porsche?
