Here comes the Cayman.....

Keep repeating the name!
I watched the preview with my daughter on PCNA website yesterday. We repeated the name hundreds of times. My eight year old and I decided it only sounds good when the guy on the Porsche website says it. I'm going to order one without a name and put a Boxster S badge on it!

Another point of view
...someone is missing the point. It is a poor advertising method that has always failed.
Not true:
"Apple 1984" was shown once in Superbowl but is one of the most highly recalled ads in the history of advertising, yet it did not show the product, but more importantly proved to be hugely successful for Apple. (And that's just one example)
Please tell me what is deceitful and sophomoric about this campaign?
Many companies carry out "Tease" launches ahead of the market launch and often can demonstrate that this was money that was extremely well spent.
Again you're looking at this from a personal point of view (just admit you don't like it) but you're trying to make it seem like a bad marketing decision when in fact it has been proven before to be highly successful; and looking at the level of "buzz" to date on the Cayman will prove to be highly successful again.
You need to seperate your personal perspective from Porsche's business perspective.
But the fact that you are reacting at all shows the campaign is already working on you...

Yeah those "official looking photos" are soooooo photoshopped its not even funny. Especially the first one. It has backseats. We've already found the two identical shots that were used in the merge. Those camo-spyshots are probably the closest as said previously. Yet still disguised. Just like the new 997 turbo photos. Its heavy camo, the car wont REALLY look like that. Its just the general figure.

The car won't be that much lighter than a Boxster S.
My 01 Boxster S with no tools, no spare tire, lightweight 5 spoke 18" carrera wheels, Hoosier A3S03 (lightest DOT tire ever), no rear speakers, no hi-fi and 1/8th gas tank: 2960 lbs.
The 05 Boxster S is heavier due to more standard equipment.
A 15Hp increase over the standard Boxster S and just 200cc more on engine displacement should not be a blast of a difference even with the 100 lbs lighter body (guessing).
A $60k Cayman is not on my price/value preference. The 997S is the best value Porsche car in my opinion.

The Boxster already handles better than the 997. Imagine one with a stiffer chasis and a more agressive suspension setup!

cgomez would be the only one paying $75k for a Boxster with a roof. $75k gets you a 997 with 19s, sport seats, and sport steering wheel...a much better value and a better performance package, even if it does weigh 250lbs more than a Cayman.

How do you recycle the piece of **** 3.4 litre flat six that sucked so bad in the 996 that Porsche replaced it before they suffered even further embarrasment ... the Cayman ... not recommended for fast driving ... banned for track use!

It's a new engine apparently
