It's a GTS, right?
Bigger, heavier, with a slightly smaller displacement turbo-charged engine and a helper motor inside the PDK.
Not my cup of petrol.

Ruined starting with the 991. Now it's just further levels of ruined where the final straw will be all electric, at which time you might as well buy this.

As a 928 owner I wondered what you will think because the new 911 seems like a nice panamera coupe to me, which leans more towards the progression of the 928.

This should be retitled to "Has VW ruined the new 911". That's how/when the 911 started loosing its soul.

Don't get me wrong, I like VW and Audi, a lot, however Porsche should have remained completely separate.

Haven't watched vid yet, but my thought is it's probably a better car, but not as good of a pure sports car.

I'm very happy with my 911. I appreciate all cars, all sports cars, all Porsche's and all 911's, but for many reasons am very happy with what is in my garage. If I could add, I would certainly be happy with adding any of the 992's to my garage as well for a different flavor.

I'm robbing someone else's words here from a prior, similar thread - I'm just not their target audience anymore. It's a fine car, but it's just not for me.

That said, the "they ruined the car" could be said for many/most new models of cars I've liked in the past. Bloated, tech for tech's sake, too much this, too little driver involvement that. Meh.

I'm in the process if looking for a new daily but for the first time in my life, nothing really scratches the itch.

I think you're exactly right. The effective date of the beginning of that was December 7, 2009...

2009 C2S 202K miles

Regulatory demands for car fleets are driving the need for smaller, more fuel efficient, and clean engines... roughly this means smaller engines with trickery. The consumer wants more and more power and with electric cars blowing away stupid-expensive combustion cars at green lights, they have to come up with something. Turbocharged engines, and now electric booster motors... more trickery.

Honestly, I don't have a problem with it... Ferrari is doing it others are too... If Porsche wants to continue to raise its prices into the ultra luxury market, they got to compete.

Oh well... The fun is gone. In a way it does not matter to me... because I can't see myself spending that much money for entertainment.

When I would read about cars, my perspective was all about owning one... I will never own one of them because the price is just... I just can't see myself spending that much for a car.... it is nuts.

Peace

Some Porsches and Vettes.... see what money buys? Do you think anyone of these folks mashed their knuckles on a bearing puller? I will say it is so nice to see fathers spending so much time with their daughters.

The fun is only gone if you sell or trade what you have now

If there is one constant in life, it is aging. And you my friends, are all aging.
We are grumpy old men.
