Introduction and new to me 997 C4S
Hello all,
I've been on rennlist for a while but only over on the air cooled side. The 964 is going to be up on stands for some winter upgrades coming up so I decided to try out a water cooled Porsche for the first time. I stumbled across a 2006 997 C4S in Arctic Silver. The car is a factory aerokit car with manual sport seats, although unfortunately a previous owner removed the aerokit decklid and it seems to be permanently missing . I assume these are unobtanium?
The car is mechanically in pretty reasonable shape, but cosmetically a bit of a mess currently. I'll be cleaning it up over the coming months and restoring it to it's former glory.
Teaser photo from when I brought it home. I'll get some more/proper photos when I start cleaning her up.
Cheers
Tom

How many miles? Did you get a PPI or Bore Scope Inspection?
Looks similar to the one for sale that I was looking at in Bellingham Wa. 2 years ago.

Nice score. You're going to love it as you'll be able to feel the lineage of the 964 but with something a little more modern and comfortable with better A/C.
What did they do for the rear decklid - ductail, stock tail, something else? I see rear aerokit decklids come up for sale occasionally, but actually think there are better looking options and what we refer to as "the park bench", but being a factory aero kit car, I also understand you wanting to put it back the way it came from Porsche.
Have more pics so we can see the rest of the options?

Decklid was replaced by a stock decklid with some kind of basket handle....I don't like it so I'm open to suggestions for a replacement.
Option list is as follows:
267 Self Dimming Mirrors
342 Heated Front Seats
640 Sport Chrono Package Plus
666 Module for Telephone PCM
670 Navigation for PCM
680 Bose High End Sound Package
692 Remote CD Changer (6 Disc)
AP Black Sport Seats
CDB Carrera S Wheel in Black
M6A Black Mats - Porsche lettering
P77 Leather Sport Seats
X1 Arctic Silver Metallic
XAA Aerokit
XCZ Sport Shifter
XRP 5mm Wheel Spacers
XSC Porsche Crest in Headrest
XSH Seat Belts Silver
XXZ Foot Rest Aluminum
Z0997 Custom Tailoring
Obviously the black wheels are currently missing. The car came with mounted winter tires which I have not yet picked up, so I'm hoping they're mounted to the original rims but I suspect not....
Anyways, below is a pic of the current decklid situation. Its too cold to wash it and start working on it so better photos will have to wait unfortunately.
Cheers,
Tom

@Tomfun Congratulations on the new addition! That spec sheet was thoroughly massaged when the car was optioned, can't imagine there are many 2006s with factory silver seat belts. Any clues to the custom tailoring? Perhaps the painted side skirts? In any case, great find, enjoy the miles ahead in good health!

OP, congrats on the acquisition! If you like the retractable decklid look, you can have a local body shop remove the current appendage/wing and repaint the decklid. There are also multiple options for a new rear wing: Getty duck tail, flying duck tail, GT3 wing, etc. The world is your oyster. I went with a more subtle lip spoiler using a modified GT3 Tek lip spoiler. Good luck dialing it in and looking forward to more pics/updates.

Well, its been a few days and the car is still filthy...its been quite cold and now its raining as well, but in any case the first thing I want to address is the tint - tint looks cool but I don't like it on cars I'm actually going to drive drive so I dropped it off to have it removed. I was going to tackle it myself but figured I'd let someone with more experience try to save the defrost lines.... Pics of the tint job below - front windows are peeling.
Next thing to address (other than overall cleanliness) is the front lip as its pretty beat up. I ordered some paint and will tackle this on the next dry day when I can take the cars out for a few hours and turn the garage into a spray booth...
Also will be removing the worn looking PPF to assess the full extent of the paint - needs a pretty good detail....
Cheers

Congrats Tom!! I have a 2006 C4S as well. Going on 14 years ownership. Purchased with 6k miles and today has 95k miles. Best car I have ever owned and still flies like a bat out of hell!
Some nice things to know about the C4S is that it comes with some shared Turbo tech goodies. Besides the obvious wide body looks, one of the biggest perks is the brake controller system. C4S and the Turbo have some of the best feeling brakes in the 997 line up, because it will pre-load the brake lines if there is any sudden lift off from gas pedal. Really makes a nice difference.
One of my favorite handling recommendations that will not break the bank. Get yourself the GT3 25mm rear adjustable sway bar and bushings from Eibach. REAR ANTI-ROLL Kit (Rear Sway Bar Only) 7217.312 Rear Sway Bar is Tubular and 3 Way-Adjustable. 25mm
GT2 rear sway bar bushings required in order to fit fatter rear 25mm sway bar. Part # 997-333-792-95. This will really improve turn in feel and help eliminate some understeer characteristics in sharp turns.
I have the Evoms V-Flow intake kit as well. This will transform the sound of your car from 5000-7000 rpm she will really scream!!
Enjoy in good health and congrats. After 14 years, my C4S still brings me great joy and pride of owndership!
