Agreed Value insurance? What are people doing for their 997s?
Hey all. So I don't have anything rare like a Sport Classic or even something crazy desirable like a GTS, turbo, or GT3 but I do know that if the car were to be a loss I would def not get the value I believe that car to be worth.
I currently have USAA and chatting with them today, they don't support agreed value. Instead they would ref something like KBB which would of course be low for our cars.
So what are people doing? Any recommendations or experiences with insurance regarding this?
Thanks much!

I sent them an email so let’s see what they say. I am in CA and they cover it.
in terms of miles I drive a ton. I think last year maybe 15-20k? Or close to that.
about how much do you guys spend with Porsche insurance? What are the pros and cons?

With PI, you pay by the mile. Your rate will depend on your demographic and level of coverage. No restrictions on use, you set agreed-value (within reasonable limit), they cover mods, and will use OE parts on repairs. No muss, no fuss. Value-wise, I think it is the best out there.

I was with Hagerty for a couple decades until I built my wife ory Cayenne 957 turbo S and they wouldn't cover it because it was too new (2009 in 2016) and an SUV. Found Grundy and they would cover it for the AV number I wanted but only if I gave them all the other cars.too. Upside to that is I have AV on all my cars, even the over 20 year old pickup and the ones the teenagers drive.
They have 3 categories - Exotic, Classic, and Regular use. Driver's of the 1st 2 categories have to be 25 and have other vehicles as daily drivers, but if under 25 can classify the vehicles as regular use and drive them.
They've been great to deal with so far, even through 2 of my fighters accidents (neither at fault) where they fixed her BMW X5 once and totalled it the 2nd time, paying the AV on the car.
IMO, anyone with a 997 should have AV on it as the book value isn't close to the market value especially if it's a 6 speed coupe.

American Modern here. Tell the your value and the miles you drive in a year. You must garage the cars you insure with them, and you must have another daily driver.
Currently on policy:
2007 997 C4
1997 993 C2
1999 M Coupe
1980 Scirocco
1981 Scirocco
1993 Scirocco
Also had the Honda Acty on the policy for a bit, but decided that I was driving almost daily, so I removed it.

Friend uses Porsche Insurance. He's super happy with it. I chose not to for various reasons even though they're cheaper than Hagerty.
For years Hagerty was incredibly expensive. My State Farm policy was $800/yr for comp/collision/low deductibles etc. and Hagerty was $3800. This past year, Hagerty was $1700. I found that to be more reasonable and signed up. Porsche insurance was sub $1k.
I switched from State Farm less due to the agreed value, because I believe I could make a pretty solid case for why my 997 GT3 has a market value of $150k and it's probably not super likely to be a total loss, but more because State Farm wouldn't do OEM parts replacement. A genuine 997 GT3 front bumper is $8k retail. I doubt they'd want to pay that.
Highly recommend quality insurance. I genuinely drive my car with more enjoyment now with proper insurance (agreed value + OEM parts replacement + roadside through Hagerty Drivers Club).

I had coverage for my air-cooled 911 with Hagerty (AV set at $150k.) The annual premium was over $1,900.
Reached out to Grundy about a month ago. Switched to Grundy - same coverage, and the annual premium dropped by $900. And they were very easy to work with.

I have Hagerty AV on both my 911s. 2003 4s $48k AV and 2009 4s $70k AV. Cost is approx $1600/yr for both and they both get driven a lot, no mileage restrictions. Not bad for NJ auto insurance.

Been with Grundy for years in my '88; agreed value backed up with appraisal. My 997 is insured with Mutual of Enumclaw, a local insurer. In both cases I've been pleased and I echo what others have said: Peace of mind that comes with good insurance makes a world of difference. I likely wouldn't have elected to daily my 997 if it weren't for the fact that I was very happy with my insurer.
