The longer I'm around Porsche the more I realize many aftermarket suppliers really think we are stupid. Since so many people are accustomed to paying the Porsche tax ($500 oil changes, OE part prices tripled, etc.) they think they are entitled to it also.

Fabspeed should be embarrassed by that price, it's absurd.

No difference between any of those. They all block off the resonator port and replace the Y hose with a single one once the port is blocked off.

Wow, I've never noticed that Fabspeed "kit" before. But I think bright red radiator hose looks cool and it even comes with a matching bottle cap!

I bought this kit used from a Rennlist member for pennies on the dollar. It was like brand new condition. I try to handle my money wisely!

I forget but I believe there's a name for this hack and all it really requires is the top from a Castrol oil bottle turned upside down and placed into that hole. That's it. My understanding is that it does exactly the same thing as these kits for pennies on the dollar, give or take. Removing the "Y" portion doesn't add any benefit that I'm aware of once the cap is hole is blocked off.

They all function the same, they all use a quality 4 or 5 ply silicone tube. Our kit includes black clamps and a billet machined cap with o-ring. We also provide detailed instructions. We like the overall solution of ours (a little bias of course). It's a very popular upgrade for a little enhanced noise. We recommend pairing with a BMC air filter. We offer all 3 at Flat 6.

Order it directly from Flat6:

https://flat6motorsports.com/collect...97-1-carrera-s

Placed 2 in my cart and fdmotorsports shipping was $43....from Flat6 shipping was $5.95.

I think the flat6 one is the cleanest kits. (No affiliation)

You folks are clearly not understanding this.

This kit produces at least an additional 150hp, when coupled with turbos and an air filter.

I you like the little additional low end sound these things make and you feel like dinking around with your car then go for it otherwise these things are pretty much useless.

If I'm reading the OP's post right, Fabspeed is asking $255.95 for a piece of plastic that's supposed to deliver 11hp. Unless I'm missing or misreading something here, I agree they should be embarrassed. My 997 GTS came from the factory with the OEM X51 power kit advertised by Porsche to produce 23 hp over the 997S. Cost if bought as an addition to a 997S, around $17,000 last I saw it available.

So this piece of plastic tube for $255.95 is supposed to produce about 50% of the power boost of the $17,000 X51 OEM kit? I have to try hard to sense the 23 HP difference the X51 kit is supposed to deliver compared to my previous non X51 C4S so what will 11 HP do even if real? If Porsche has to charge $17K for 23 HP I'd be curious how Fabspeed can squeeze 11 HP out of this engine with a plastic tube for $255.95. If they can do it, why not double the performance and the price to $511.90 and deliver the equivalence of the OEM X51 kit at a $16,500 discount?
