Default Advice for new owner

Hey gang, new owner/member here. I just picked up a 09 C4S with PDK fully loaded with 53k miles on it. I'm bringing it into my shop to have them do a full inspection, anything I should be looking for as far as wear and tear? Anything I should do preemptively to her while she's in there? She just had the oil done 700 miles ago. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Ideally you'd do the inspection pre purchase, but after it's looked at I'd just repair any critical items broken and do an oil and filter change.

Then I'd drive it for a while and make a list of things that you want addressed or improved. I'd give it some time so you can experience the car before making upgrades

Not sure about a 997.2, but certain things should probably replaced due to age, even if functioning fine. For my 997.1 even though these showed no real issues, I've done the engine mounts, water pump, low temp thermostat, serpentine belt and replaced the transmission fluid with PTX (but you have a PDK so not sure about that for you).

Congrats! ---> If your car didn't come with the optional Wind Deflector I highly recommend one. They make the ride more pleasant at high speeds and reduce noise.

PDK oil, plugs, air filters (very east diy), belt. Don’t worry about water pump. Can’t see pic but if cab as Groov indicates, lube top mechanism.

Confrats on your new car! 997.2 is as bulletproof as it gets. The "shop" you are referring will tell you anything that may need attention since they are looking at and touching the car. We are not there and therefore just speculating or worse. This assumes the shop is knowledgeable in these cars.
Read the owners manual (twice) and the PCM book and bring any questions here as we have made probably all the mistakes and sorted them out.
Just go drive the car and avoid the internet.

Have them pull the mudguards in front of the rear wheels and have the area cleaned. A lot of mud can get stuck up in there and moisture leading to rust. It's an item that should be cleaned out every few months especially in harsh weather cars but even cars from warm climates.

EDIT>>>

Also this is actually very easy to do yourself. Just takes a few bolts to remove.

Congratulations on the purchase! Hope you will enjoy that car!

Just a few thoughts regarding your question about maintenance:

If you don't have the past maintenance records on the car, try to get them. In the absence of those, I would assume that maintenance that is due per the Porsche 997.2 Maintenance schedule is required and should be done.

You've mentioned that the oil was changed 700 miles ago. If you have the actual service receipt for that and it specifies the # of miles, date, oil used and filter - good. If not, I would definitely change the oil so that you absolutely have it done.

Depending on the records you have on past maintenance, you could need plugs, drive belt, air filters, cabin filter, brake fluid flush, PDK clutch fluid change, PDK gear oil change. Definitely would want to verify the condition of the brakes - pads and rotors. Regarding the tires, apart from the typical assessment based on remaining tread life, you would want to verify the age of the tires. If older than 6 years - replace them all. Examine the front radiators for any junk / debris and clean them out. (All kinds of stuff can end up going inside the front intakes. Leaves, bugs, cigarette butts - I've even found chunks / bits of rubber from blown out tires inside mine.)

Best of luck with your new 911!

At 53K miles, I doubt you might find anything terribly wrong but fuel injectors on the DFI engines is something that you should keep an eye on.

Great advice on something that is rarely spoken about.

Congrats on a car I can't imagine you won't fall in love with if you haven't already. Had an -09 C4S myself. Loved everything about it especially since it was a launch edition with full leather and the GT2 bucket seats. That said, I was unlucky and had the water pump give in just over 40K miles and the PDK not long thereafter. I don't know that there's a way of checking the condition of either the water pump or the PDK. As I said, I wouldn't worry since I bring both failures into the "bad luck folder". The 997.2 is as solid as 911's come based on commentary here and elsewhere. Enjoy!

As said above, I think my water pump crapping at just over 40K miles on the -09 was an aberration rather than something to worry about at that mileage. I have 70,200 miles on the original water pump on my current GTS.
