Here's an arrow pointing to what I believe is the worn line you were referring to

Looks like a vacuum line with a control solenoid attached. Have you got PSE? Routing looks dodgy.

When the oil filler neck (which disconnects & can be moved/ lifts) gets lifted or moved in upward direction, it could certainly cause this type of bend/break in the line.
Or mechanic broke line when repairing/replacing a part like Alternator/etc?
That's my guess how it happened.

Thanks Groove. The pic of the screwdriver wasn’t very clear.

I think the hose/cable has been rubbing on the back of the air box. I have the oil filler neck tied up to aid in removing the box.

I don’t have pse

Put the box back in. It was rubbing against the back of the intake.

I now see your plastic zip tie attached to your oil fill tube.
I believe my filler tube snaps/fits into a plastic collar that holds it in place--->Was your oil filler tube knocking around on you and reason for zip tie? Have you tried snapping it in place?

I unsnapped the oil fill tube and tied it off to remove the airbox to get access to the motor mounts.

The rubber on the hose is rubbed off on the side. Not sure how close the inner (platic?) tube is to failing. Also not sure what effect this will have on me getting stranded.

I will look into it.

That first photo you posted is deceiving - The tube in question looks like it is completely broken - I looked on a lot of parts pages and didn't see/find what exactly that part is but it does for sure look like some sort of vacuum line.
Which motor mounts did you install? Easy job?

Looks like an air feed to AOS, but what do I know.

Formula First mounts. Easy install if you have a floor jack.

And Rennlist.

It won't fail anytime soon just went thru the top layer ..Most likely you will give up the ghost before it does ..Just give it a wrap with black silicone tape to maintain it's integrity and to protect it.

That whole assembly should be secured with a clip much higher up I believe. I'll update with a photo shortly. Also, why is your coolant green - should be pink.

Pics from 2 different 997.1s

Wife's car - non-PSE (doesn't seem to have it)

My car with PSE. I remember this being attached up high with a metal clip, like to the underside of the upper surface. Think the clip broke.when I was fixing my supercharger oil leak and since I don't run a factory airbox, didn't replace it. Look up high in that left corner and see if there's an unused mounting clip that it might have popped out of.

Looks like the one in your second pic with the yellow dot. Didnt look to see if there was a clip available. Its fairly rigid at the plenum. Im sure I can tie it off somehow to keep it from rubbing.

I should have mic'ed it to see how deep the wear is. Its well into the plastic. I taped it well so it wouldnt wear anymore while I researched it.

Update:
Looks like its a vent line #8 to/from the fuel vapor cannister. Emissions. $400. Im going to mic it and see exactly how worn it is and prolly repair it. Assuming its low pressure. Actually I guess its a vacuum.
