Default First 911: '06 C2S Guards Red build thread

Hello all!

Got my first 911 in mid-August and have found this forum to be a fantastic resource. I've found that it's (nearly) as enjoyable to work on the car as it is to drive it! (I didn't even know how to change oil when I first bought it.) I figured it was time to start a build thread to keep track of things.

Basics:
2006 911 C2S 6-speed
Bought from a Cadillac dealer via a customer who traded it in for a Buick
93K MSRP, bought for 47.5K + tax
Miles: 50,010 when bought in August, 54,000 now.
Major options: Full leather, Bose, Sport Chrono, rear wiper

PO mods:
Clear side lights
Gloss black lobster forks
Tinted windows

Work I've done:
Replace rear struts - only thing that failed PPI. (McIlvain motors did this, don't know how I got such a wonderful Indy on 1st go)
Replace water pump (preventative) with low temp thermostat (McIlvain)
Change oil - dealership could not tell me what they used, so I did a Driven DR40 flush and am now on DT40. Need to get around to sending samples to Blackstone...)
MSP Motorsports interior light/license plate LED upgrade
Rennline ExactFit phone mount with wireless charger
Powder coated wheels to matte silver/gunmetal finish (WFI Wheel and Tire)
Replaced flaking climate control buttons with Clima Repair switches
Removed original front PPF and replaced with new PPF
Full ceramic coating
Numeric Shifter and cables (Mcilvain)
New AGM battery
K&N Air Filter
Replaced cabin filter
Replaced front winshield (heavily pitted, no charge due to insurance)

Work in near future
Getty Sport Ducktail [test fitting this weekend]
Change transmission fluid (Mobilube PTX)
Helix 12-channel DSP/Amp with Pioneer Head unit (would have gone Kenwood but they seem to be unobtainium during this supply chain shortage) [Install date in 2 week @ [url=https://handcraftedcaraudio.com/]Handcrafted Car Audio]
Soul Performance Valved Exhaust w/CF tips [should be shipping in next 2 weeks]
Illuminated sills [on order from Jerry Jones]

Possible future work
Sport cats
lowering springs
Turbo II wheels
3rd brake delete kit
New tires (current are 2016 date)
leather center console
Steering wheel swap- want multifunction!

Mechanical issues
Other than the dead battery - caused by leaving my lights on - not much so far. Have a visit scheduled for this week to take it to my Indy to fix what I think is a fault door switch - the driver door window has started to roll up fully before I close the door.

Looks awesome! How much was it to remove the PPF and reapply? I’m looking to do mine in the summer next year. I have the car PPF up to the doors.

For paint correction, film removal, new film install, and ceramic coating it was about 3K. I think the removal of the old film which went halfway up the hood was $300 or so.

Looks great! I was in the same boat when I bought mine in September, a 2005 C2S Cab w/55k on it (56k now...) for $42k. Had entire front bumper, hood and fenders stripped and painted, ppf applied to those area and the mirrors. Numeric shifter (no cables or cable ends yet...). Replaced center console and side panels on the stack with a new unit, all leather. Installed turbo rims. Got a set of Mangagrafix stone guards. SOUL Performance exhaust tips in CF for the PSE exhaust - took forever to find someone that even made these... Alpine head unit with backup cam and sirius (carplay etc. obviously) Frunk hood liner, cuz it looks better in there now. Car already had LEDs for interior, frunk, side markers and fogs. Got the stupid aluminum look gas cap (don't ask...stupid) Replaced rear Carrera badge in silver/grey with black. Function First engine mounts, Function First transmission mount inserts, replaced tranny fluid with PTX. DEPO tail lights. Did the air filter and cabin filter swaps with Mahle (I think that's the brand). In spring I will have another PPI done and see how the suspension looks and probably look into the water pump and thermostat just for preventative maintenance. And yes, will finally teach myself how to change my own oil! Oh, also painted the center stack black. Hated the silver. And a new steering wheel from a 991 and airbag

Test fitting of Getty Sport Wing (bought off marketplace). Paint looks to be a good match so far. Didn't realize how much stuff had to be cannibalize off the current deck lid. Still need a 3rd brake light before I can install; that should be ordered tmmw.

Damn are you trying to get me to spend more money or what Looks great. I'd forgotten I wanted to do the leather console and steering wheel! How much did the wheel swap cost you all in?

hah! I'm a bad influence... Wheel swap was about $1500 all in but if you contact Atlanticship on ebay, I think you can do it for $1350. I got my wheel off rennlist before i checked Atlantic. Center console and side panels were about $2000 including shipping from Latvia, different ebay seller but he was awesome and I got the stuff about 4 days after ordering.

I bought my car sight unseen from the Phoenix area and had McIlvain do my PPI as well. Terrific experience—very knowledgable and fair. If I didn't live in NJ, they'd be my indy, too!

Well...crap.After the successful test fit and delivery of the 3rd brake light, I went to swap parts from the OEM decklid tonight but the hole sizes are different. The intake connector plastic is too large for the hole on the ducktail, and I'm missing a hole to route one of the cables through. Puzzled. Rereading texts the seller says he had a 997.2 vs. my .2 but I thought. 2's had dual air intakes.

Given what I already sunk into this I think I'm going to need to drill into this...

Existing decklid:

New wing
