It was typically 3-4 range, but that might have actually changed once this issue started it actually does seem lower like 1-2 range. It is always 5 when under power.

I probably could have and maybe should have done a deep sump. But yeah I did about everything I felt I could and changed the oil very frequently. Below is the UOA again silicone was right after IMS install and I am theorizing that it is sealant.

3-4 would be too high at idle at that temperature might be a sender issue that’s unrelated.

Definitely curious to hear the cause of this. No oil consumption, low wear metals, no scoring at 45K, and the fact that it started running badly all of a sudden makes it suspect to be scoring (to me anyway) as it would have to be very bad to make that sound. Wouldn't it have been more of a gradual sound coming on ultimately and not necessarily cause the ? Maybe its the stick that breaks the camel's back sort of occurrence. Get that thing scoped again- hoping for the best for you.

Man, sorry to see this. Did you get the IMS work done recently? Any chance that it’s not scoring and that the IMS install somehow had something to do with the failure? I’ve seen posts on if not done right, the IMS replacement causes the engine failure. Just seems strange there was no oil usage or soot on tail pipes at all and went straight to piston slap?

IMS was done a while back and a certified shop, so I am confident that is good.

I agree, I am not yet sold on bore scoring, it just sounds so awful. I did just see another thread with a really awful sound being caused by a bad injector, so I haven’t lost hope yet.

I could look at values with my durametric but I am afraid to run it too much in fear that if it is like a spun bearing or broken chain guide it is doing more damage. I think I am going to pull the filter and take it up to my Indy to cut open while I wait for a bore scope to arrive.

it could be a lifter is permanently bled down, sounds super similar to bore score, would tap longer into the rev range than bore score which is what threw me off in your first video. Bore score tap usually goes away after about 2K rpm as it does doesn't have the dwell to slap. the vario cam lifters are known to crack, and if it cracks too much it wont hold pressure and you get a very similar tap to bore score. its rare but happens, could explain the sudden onset.
