Default Exhausts for 997.2s

Looking to upgrade exhaust on my 2009 base 997.2 Carrera. Need more sound. Any recommendations: Fabspeed, Soul? Also, would like to have them come with quad tips. Is the X pipe my best option cost wise because the PES would cost around $5,500 Canadian. That's expensive just to have the on/off button inside the car.

FVD Street Sport with the side muffler bypass. Doesn't come with tips but sounds amazing!

Mine, a 2009-C2 with Billy Boat center muffler bypass pipes and GUNDO Hack. A very affordable setup that's easy to install and will bring many smiles to your face.

We can help you with the exhaust. Did you have a budget in mind? Loud?

I bought the agency power system, muffler cans and x pipe. It sounds great and everybody says it sounds great. Very cheap. Dont know what they are selling right now.

Good info. I’m looking to do the bypass myself. Fabspeed comes to mind first.. glad to see there are other options.

Put a Tubi system on my -09 C4S. Takes care of the side cans and you get x-pipes that gets rid of the center muffler too. Not the cheapest solution but the sound is amazing and your car loses about 20 lbs. of weight. I've seen references of a 15-20 hp gain as well but I'm not completely convinced of this. As with everything else you usually get what you pay for. https://www.championmotorsport.com/p...i-997-2-ex.htm

Completely agree with this as it reflects my experience as well.

The stock 997.2 side mufflers weigh 16.7 lbs each. The Tubi mufflers weigh 8 lbs each. The weight savings for those alone amount to about 17 lbs or so. Plus when you eliminate the center (lard can) muffler and replace it with an x-pipe, you'll see a further weight reduction (estimated at about net 18 lbs.) Total weight reduction with a Tubi conversion = 35 lbs.

And although I was not expecting nor looking for it, I could definitely sense a difference in performance of the car.

997,

Highly recommend checking out our Sport Headers, and Maxflo Side mufflers. They will give you a much more aggressive tone while also giving you the benefit of some performance upgrades.

Sport Headers
  • Improves power by 13 whp and 16 ft-lbs. of torque at 4500rpm
  • Saves 4 lbs from the rear of the vehicle
  • Includes multi-layer exhaust manifold gasket
  • Includes German-imported 200-cell HJS Sport Catalytic Converters for maximum performance
  • Investment-cast high-velocity 3-into-1 merge collectors for maximum performance

I invite you to give us a call so that we can talk about all of the options and your ultimate goal. There are a wealth of exhaust options for the 997.2 Carrera and it would be best to see what you want immediately and set a possible path of progression should you want more.

You can get a great bang for your buck simply with a Center Muffler Bypass Exhaust :

If you're after more power, you could add Long Tube Street Headers and that would add a bit more aggression while still being reasonable:

If you're looking for bang for the buck, the SOUL Performance center muffler bypass is your best bet. At $1295 USD, it's the cheapest option in the SOUL 997.2 lineup and gives a modest improvement in tone and volume.

If quad tips are a must, though - I'd suggest the Sport Side Mufflers. Not a whole lot more expensive at $2095 USD with polished chrome quad tips, but you'll get that look you're after.

Of course, you could always pair them both up and go crazy.

If you have any questions, just let me know, as there are other SOUL combinations that may work with your budget. It really just depends on the tone/volume you want. I also have access to Tubi, as well, but I think we're going in the wrong direction on price there.

Absolutely zero affiliation with this --

I happened to run across this used Tubi system for a 997.2 today. The seller is asking $1,800 (or best offer) for the two side mufflers and rear center muffler delete / crossover. I think the price new from Tubi is about $3,400 or so.

I purchased my Tubi mufflers used and restored them to as-new condition. I have been 100% happy with them in all respects. Great sound, light weight, excellent quality.

May be a good opportunity for someone with a 997.2...

(A photo of my restored Tubi mufflers appears below the ones currently for sale on eBay...)

Gundo hack + center muffler bypass + performance headers will open up your exhaust system and uncork more noise. If you want to maximize the noise, delete the side mufflers and get straight headers with no cats if you live in an area without emissions testing. Do it in stages so you can dial in the right level of decibels and sound for you.
