The fact that there aren't more aerokits out there may suggest that my opinion is shared by many others.

I guess overstated or not is in the eye of the beholder. I always thought the aerokit wing is just that....overstated. It doesn't flow with the rest of the body but disrupts it instead. Some have made reference to it as mounting a park bench on the rear decklid. If I had to choose a rear wing for my GTS I would look for either an OEM Turbo wing or something similar. I've seen some after market wings similar to the Turbo wing that actually looked pretty cool. What they all have in common is that they imo. do a better job blending in with the 911 body as opposed to disrupting it.

For the record, I still look at it as more the latter given the cost of some of the options.

By the way, there is one fewer 997 GTS coupe on the planet as of Sunday. I took my new GT3 up Azusa Canyon / Highway 39 and when I was heading back down traffic was stopped. I finally got out of my car and asked a guy waking the opposite direction what happened. He said "A guy rolled a Porsche just like yours!". I walked down and sure enough. White 997.2 GTS upside down. Driver was unhurt. Such a shame about the car, but a good thing no one else got injured. Every weekend day there's something like this on that road. Out of respect for the driver, I'm not posting his car's picture

ouch. I'm sure his disappointment & pride were hurt (I say that only because you mention he did not get hurt,.. which is also a testament to the integrity of these cars too)
I wonder if it had to do with old date code tires,... or poor tread. I'm about to replace some tires on a couple of my cars,.... that still have some tread life, but are date coding out.

Hate to hear stories like this. Good to hear the driver was unhurt physically though. Emotionally, probably a different story. Also wonder how something like this unfolded on a public road. On the track, pushed to the limit by someone who probably shouldn't push it to limit, I can see it. On a public two lane road though, must have involved some unusual circumstances. These cars are like suction cups to the road so trying to figure out in my mind how it happened.
